Bringing warmth, comfort, and sustainability to period homes is a delicate balance of art and precision. Mitchell & Dickinson’s approach is rooted in five guiding principles, the Five Cs, which shape every decision we make and every service we offer. Comfort: A warm home is more than a temperature; it’s a feeling. Our solutions are designed to enhance comfort in period properties while respecting their heritage. Cost: True value is about investment, not just expense. By improving energy efficiency, we help reduce heating bills and provide clients with long-term savings that make a genuine difference. Conservation: Each period property has a story, and we’re here to help preserve it. Our work respects the architecture and character of older homes, blending modern efficiency with timeless aesthetics. Craftsmanship: Quality matters. Our team consists of skilled artisans who understand period materials and structures, ensuring that every detail is executed to the highest standard. Climate: Sustainability isn’t just a buzzword; it’s a commitment. With energy-efficient upgrades, we help homeowners lower their carbon footprint without sacrificing style or comfort. The Five Cs represent more than just our business model; they reflect our philosophy. For homeowners who want to preserve the past while investing in a sustainable future, our work offers a seamless blend of old and new. Discover how these values can transform your home and enhance its legacy. #MitchellAndDickinson #FiveCs #PeriodHomes #HighEndSustainability #EnergyEfficiency #LuxuryLiving #HeritagePreservation #EcoConscious #Craftsmanship #ClimateAction

Making Period Homes Warmer
About us
Crafted energy-saving secondary glazing and insulation for period homes and listed properties. Mitchell & Dickinson’s CosyGlazing is a unique secondary glazing system that is elegant and effective. Made of a modern, lightweight equivalent to glass, it’s fixed using magnetic strips so is easy to remove and virtually invisible. Choose a finish to complement your period or listed property. We also provide high quality draught proofing for period properties such as sheep’s wool insulation. Based in North Devon and Bristol, we work for owners of listed and period properties across the South and South West including the Home Counties, Exeter, Taunton, Bath, Bristol, Truro and Plymouth to make their homes warmer.

The team at Mitchell & Dickinson recently gathered to honour Founding Director, Mukti Mitchell, and wish him well for his impending sabbatical year in India. The team took part in an organised swim, cycle and then a dinner. With investment from Paul Dickinson, Mukti set up the company in 2010 with a mission to insulate Britain’s older housing stock. Mukti was a low-carbon lifestyle consultant, who insulated his parent’s 17th century farmhouse, then went onto build a zero-emission micro- yacht and sailed around the coast of Great Britain to promote low carbon living. Mukti discovered that unless we insulate our older housing stock, the country cannot reach its carbon reduction targets. He started the company in Bideford, North Devon, specialising in insulation solutions for period and listed properties - some of the hardest to treat buildings and homes in the country. Today, Mitchell & Dickinson continues to insulate period and listed properties and having grown significantly, now operates all over the South of England and into Wales - from Leicester to Land’s End. Mukti remains a shareholder in the company and continues to do pioneering work in the field of climate action. He will follow Mitchell & Dickinson’s growth into London and the North with interest and pride.
