❓To buy, or not to buy? Why you don’t need to spend big on every gift this year. With the rising cost of living, it’s no surprise that over half of us are planning to spend less this Christmas. Second hand gifting is a great way to keep costs down and, in general, is a much more sustainable approach to shopping. If you’re considering the second-hand option, then you’re in good company: the number of us who are not only buying – but are happy to receive – second-hand gifts is increasing. But just be mindful of who you’re buying for. While 73% of young adults (18-24yo) are likely to give second-hand gifts, only 28% of those in the 55-64 bracket share this broader acceptance and enthusiasm for pre-loved items. While on the topic of sustainability, if you receive a gift this Christmas that you’re unlikely to ever use, but would make the perfect gift for someone else, then regifting could be the way to go. Around 85% of us have regifted a present at least once, and an estimated 1 in 5 presents will be regifted during the holiday season. #MerryMiramarChristmas

⏳ You’d think everyone would have got the hang of this by now, right? But with just one week left until the big day, well over half of us still haven’t finished our Christmas shopping 🫣 So, if you’re in the 62% of people who still have gifts to buy, it’s time to get cracking! 📆 (And for all you online shoppers – don’t forget to check those delivery dates!) #MerryMiramarChristmas

So, what are we drinking? With 11:07am being the most common time to sip our first alcoholic beverage on Christmas Day, it pays to be well stocked for the long haul! According to the insights 🍾 prosecco is top of the pops for Christmas dinner drinks (21%), closely followed by red wine 🍷 (20%). Somewhat surprisingly, beer is the drink of choice for only 2% of us 🍺 while 9% like to add some razzle dazzle with a cocktail 🍹 Of course, not everyone chooses alcohol, so make sure you have something on hand for the 8% who prefer a soft drink 🥤 That’s the sort of good insight we’ll raise a glass to 🥂 If your next campaign could do with a little extra fizz and sparkle, then we’ll help you pop the cork on the strategic insight that will get the audience rockin’ around your Christmas tree. Just drop us a line! #MerryMiramarChristmas

Let’s unwrap the insight and see what the rest of the country’s habits are: 🌐 7% of shoppers plan to do all their holiday shopping online 👥 64% of Gen Z say they’ll buy gifts discovered on social media platforms 🛍️ 54% prefer in-store shopping 🎉 67% believe that visiting local shops enhances their festive spirit 💳 High street retailers see 138% higher sales in December compared to other months Whatever your shopping preferences, maybe this Christmas is the perfect time to explore something new – you never know what you might discover! #MerryMiramarChristmas

We need to talk about Brussels sprouts. Despite an 80g serving containing more vitamin C than an orange, the popular consensus is that sprouts are, well, un-popular. But while only 50% of households plan to serve up these contentious greens at Christmas, more than 60% of people would welcome them on their plates. Now that we’ve restored some respect to the much-maligned sprout, what can we do with this new info? Whether your guests this year love or loathe sprouts, why not try mixing them up with a little extra something to see if you can convert the naysayers. This 5 star, brussels with bacon and chestnuts recipe should do the trick! https://lnkd.in/eeGJM_7M Merry Christmas to all, and to all – good insight! #MerryMiramarChristmas

Hey big spender! Have we got some insights for you. According to the stats, despite buying roughly the same number of gifts, men tend to outspend women each Christmas. But that’s only the half the story. While men may on average spend more, women tend to buy more gifts, more frequently, browse more extensively, and start their shopping earlier. While men and women may have different approaches to their holiday shopping, when it comes to the battle of the sexes it looks like everyone’s a winner! If you have an audience you need to know more about, then our strategic minds are here to help you find the all-important insights that deliver out of the ordinary results for your next campaign – just give us a (jingle) bell! 🔔 Merry Christmas to all, and to all – good insight! #MerryMiramarChristmas

Today is International Animal Rights Day. And for many of us, Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without our furry little friends around! As a nation of animal lovers, we often end up spoiling our pets more than our family at this time of year, this reflects a growing trend of treating pets as integral family members during the holiday season! 🎁 Around 70% of UK pet owners buy gifts for their animal companions each year 🥇 Over 25% of UK consumers prioritise pet presents over gifts for humans 🍗 65% of pet owners give their pets their own special Christmas dinner 🍽️ 17% of pets are allowed to sit at the dining table! What special treats will you be giving your pets this year? #Internationanimalrightsday #MerryMiramarChristmas

🎄There’s nothing quite like the smell of a real Christmas tree wafting through the house at this time of year. In fact, three quarters of the UK prefer a real Christmas tree to an artificial one, with the famous Nordmann Fir accounting for around 80% of the real trees sold each year. But more than the pine scent and shiny needles, getting a real tree (and disposing of it properly) is much better for the environment than buying an artificial one. To help you get the most life out of your tree this Christmas, here are four things to remember when you go au naturel … 🪚 Cut 3cm off the bottom. This helps it absorb more water and live longer. 💦 Water that bad boy. These thirsty beggars can drink up to 2 litres PER DAY. 🥵 Keep it away from heat sources. (Unless you love hoovering up needles.) ♻️ Dispose of your tree responsibly, ideally at a green waste recycling point. Merry Christmas to all, and to all – good insight! #MerryMiramarChristmas
