We hope you all enjoyed the weather over the weekend - we have definitely made the most of it! We have had six surveys underway over the weekend, most of them unattended noise monitoring but one lucky person got to visit the North Wales coast and do some vibration monitoring too! Our six locations included two countries and several regions including the North East, Yorkshire, Midlands and the Northwest. They've been a real mixture of projects too, including noise surveys for a quarry extension, battery energy storage systems, conversion from commercial use to residential, new residential development and dust monitoring for a new link road. If you would like to hear more about our services and how we could help with your project, please contact us at info@millergoodall.co.uk

An interesting DLUHC consultation open at the moment which considers noise from the installation of air source heat pumps (ASHP). Views are sought on whether to increase the location, current volume or size limitation on ASHP and how to deal with multiple ASHPs. The consultation closes on 9 April 2024 https://lnkd.in/eiQEk4RN

Bolton Lads and Girls Club is losing vital funding and needs our help to keep a vital service going. Their post below explains what this will mean much better than we can - please help if you can. https://lnkd.in/eFcS4Bzp
We need your help. BLGC’s counselling service is currently in a vulnerable position due to a lack of continuation of funding. This service is vital in supporting local children and young people through any traumas they have experienced, when they need to speak to a qualified counsellor. Due to funding coming to an end the service will stop running from the end of March 2024 meaning many children and young people are going to lose the vital support they need. The loss of this critical service means more young people will not be able to access free support when they need it, leading to the deterioration of young people’s mental health. We DON’T want to close down this service. We are seeing more and more children and young people struggling with their mental health and demand increasing for services such as counselling. Help us save this service by donating now, sharing with your networks and please also get in touch with victoria.hozaifeh@blgc.co.uk to discuss any queries you have, we are open to hearing any ideas on how we can save this service! We cannot lose this service!! https://lnkd.in/eFcS4Bzp

We're over the moon to welcome Daniella Hurst back to the office today for some keeping-in-touch time. Daniella has been on maternity leave after giving birth to twins!! Welcome back, Daniella, we hope you enjoy being back in the office - we're sure it will be a breeze for you after the last few months. We're really looking forward to a proper catch up and seeing lots of photos.

Lesley and Vanessa attended a Women in Property North West event yesterday - an introduction to the psychology of behaviour. Turns out Lesley is a Cool Blue - precise, questioning and analytical. Who knew?!? 🤣
A huge thank you to Women in Property North West for a great introduction to the psychology of behaviour event session presented by Sallie Haydock. It was a fantastic, fun and interactive event with a great mixture of sunshine yellow, fiery red, earth green and cool blue people.

Great news to end the week on! Planning permission granted for a change of use of a first floor area above a bakery in Prescot to two flats . We provided noise and odour assessments for the project and recommended noise mitigation. The bakery use meant an early start to the day for our graduate noise consultant, Sarah Cook, but she got a great breakfast afterwards! Lesley Goodall has been busy visiting a range of premises, from dry cleaners and petrol stations to large-scale printing facilities and coating manufacturers, over the past few weeks. We provide inspection services for local authorities under the pollution prevention and control regime which controls emissions to air from a wide range of facilities. Inspections for 2023/24 need to be completed by the end of March so it's all systems go!

We've had to be on the ball this month to catch the weather so we could complete noise monitoring. We also need to make sure our equipment is safe when we leave it on site. As you can see, we managed to do both last week. Great weather and excellent use of site hoardings to protect our kit! This site is a mixed residential/commercial development in Bolton that we've been very excited to provide a full range of acoustic services for - from securing planning permission to acoustic design of the structure and verification monitoring and testing. The results of this survey will allow us to provide pragmatic façade insulation recommendations, protecting against road and commercial noise in the area.
