Maximising the opportunities to enhance the vibrancy of Mid Ulster, as a place to live, do business and visit.

About us

Mid Ulster District Council straddles two counties, running from Swatragh in the north to Fivemiletown in the south and from the Sperrin Mountains in the west to the shores of Lough Neagh in the east. The Council became responsible in April 2015 for the services and facilities previously provided by the 3 former councils of Cookstown, Dungannon and South Tyrone and Magherafelt, as well as for some services which transferred from central government and for new powers. Building on the strengths of our district and the achievements of the councils which have gone before us, Mid Ulster District Council will maximise opportunities to enhance the vibrancy of its district, as a place to live, do business and visit. We remain focused on the local, working for and with people to meet their needs, and make great value, high quality services and facilities maintained to the highest standards available to our residents, businesses and visitors. We do this by delivering for our people, creating growth, sustaining our environment and building unity. • The Mid Ulster Labour Market Partnership has launched its 2024/25 Childminding Academy to help increase affordable childcare provision in the Mid Ulster area. This academy is vital to Mid Ulster LMP’s commitment to increasing the number of fully registered childminders in our area. Funded by the Department for Communities, Labour Market Partnerships create targeted employment action plans for council areas, allowing for collaboration at local and regional levels to support people towards and into work. The Childminding Academy is open to all Mid Ulster residents who are over the age of 18; and who are either unemployed, long-term unemployed, under-employed (working 16 hours or less per week), or at risk of redundancy; seeking career progression through upskilling or reskilling; or who have been economically inactive for any reason (e.g. due to long term ill-health or disability, caring commitments, early retired, or any other reason). Chair of the Council, Councillor Eugene McConnell welcomed the academy saying, “I am proud to support the launch of the Mid Ulster LMP Childminding Academy. This initiative is vital to addressing the growing need for qualified childminders in our district." "By offering resources and training to aspiring childminders, we are not only investing in the future of our children but also strengthening our community by creating new opportunities for careers in childcare. Together, we are building a brighter, more supportive environment for families and children to thrive." Read the full article at: https://lnkd.in/e8TchVWn...
