The Medicines Evaluation Unit (MEU) Ltd, is one of the UK’s leading contract research organisations, a facility where commitment to excellence is paramount. Possessing extensive pharmaceutical, scientific and clinical expertise, within a state-of-the-art hospital-based research facility, allied with fast volunteer recruitment rates, enables MEU to offer clients positive clinical trial solutions. The MEU’s core skill area is in respiratory clinical trials, together with early phase exploratory studies. This is enhanced by the specialist support offered by collaboration with the University Hospital of South Manchester, and its extensive facilities. The MEU specialises in performing clinical trials (from Phase I through to IV) in respiratory / inflammatory medicine and related areas.

Our Group Chair, Alessandro Chiesi, continues his latest tour of our home City of Manchester, with a visit to the Medicines Evaluation Unit based on the Wythenshawe Hospital Campus. Here, he met the fantastic Professor Dave Singh and team who have been leading our global phase III trial programme for the development of carbon minimal inhalers. This innovation will reduce the carbon footprint of our inhalers by up to 90% compared to current ones and is a key part of our journey to becoming a Net Zero company by 2035. We’re now on the home stretch as our phase III trials have completed recruitment and we work towards completion and submission to regulators. We’re on track to support a seamless transition while minimising climate impact. Alessandro spent some quality time with the team, reflecting on the importance of collaboration in bringing improved solutions for patients and planet. UK-CHI-2401042 | December 2024
