About us

MedCourse is a website launched in 2022 which helps UK pre-consultant doctors to find courses, career advice, and education relevant to their grade and speciality. We are founded by junior doctors and work with over 50 providers to help you master a new clinical skill, pass the next exam, or reach your career goals. You can find the latest educational events with our events calendar, upskill in your spare time by searching online courses, and get career advice from those who’ve been in your shoes in our blog. We’ll also be launching a question bank section and free “how to get into any speciality” e-book soon – watch this space

This made my day. I wrote this article back in 2022 as a passion project on MedCourse UK, as part of my own healing from NHS trauma. It doesn't get much search traffic, but when viewed it's the most likely post to be shared. People just need to know that they are not alone. Everybody makes mistakes. #residentdoctors #mistakes

𝖩̶𝗎̶𝗇̶𝗂̶𝗈̶𝗋̶ Resident Doctors. It does have a nice ring! But will it stick? I really hope so. I've heard so many stories of patients assuming that a "junior" doctor must be a medical student. It isn't fair for the doctors, and isn't fair for patients either. Starting from today, the BMA has announced that junior doctors will henceforth be known as resident doctors. What do you think of the name change? #juniordoctors #residentdoctors

Doctors of LI - I still need your help! I posted a while ago about an e-book I'm working on (deadline september 2023...), and while I have made progress, I still need quite a few specialities. How it's going 👇 I have completed entries from 35 registrars in different specialities, covering everything from CSRH to Paediatric Surgery. Each entry has their experience, advice, and top tips on which projects, courses, networks, organisations, and people you need to get yourself involved in to get into their speciality. I also have 15 entries on the go being written. With any luck I might only be 1 year late for the deadline! 🎉 What's next 👇 I still need 13 specialities covering in order to get info from **every single speciality training programme in the UK**. I need your help. The Purpose 👇 Look - this is to help MedCourse UK grow our mailing list, so we can update tens of thousands of junior doctors on upcoming courses each month. But! It's also going to be free, and will open up this niche and useful advice to candidates across the UK, whether you're in an impressive London academic centre or a busy northern DGH. Who I need 👇 Here's the list of "don't have's": - Clinical Genetics - Acute Medicine - Aviation and Space Medicine - Clinical Neurophysiology - Medical Ophthalmology - Diagnostic Neuropathology - Old age psychiatry - General adult psychiatry - Core Surgery (CST) - Orthopaedics - General surgery ST4 - Transplant surgery - Vascular Surgery I'm offering £50, the chance to spread the word about your speciality, and a virtual high five (plus I'll throw in a cartoon avatar like mine). Please spread the word if you know anyone with a spare couple of hours to write this. Thanks to everyone that's helped so far!

  • Congratulations to all of the IMT-elect doctors who have received notice of successfully getting a training number! If you're still waiting for an interview, we've got some fresh advice on the clinical station from Balrik at Optimise Interviews. In this video, he goes through his top tips for the ST3/4 medical interviews, but the advice can be applied to any interview with a clinical station. #medicalinterviews #juniordoctors #isthisvideotoolongforlinkedin
