As we aim to promote careers in the construction industry, we’ve recently engaged with and welcomed to our sites two local educational groups, inclusive of a local nursery, as we aspire to encourage early engagement and understanding of the construction industry. In Derby, we welcomed a local primary school to site and assisted Bowmer and Kirkland Ltd with the burial of a time capsule. In Stoke-on-Trent, we partnered with Willmott Dixon to welcome a local nursery to explore our excavator on site and Q&As, whilst the children looked the part in hard hats and hi-vis vests. On Saturday we hosted our annual Summer Fair for our workforce and celebrated with fun activities alongside friends and family. This year the celebrations are extra special, as we approach a milestone 30 years of business. The Summer Fair was the first of numerous celebrations and fundraising activities for us to commemorate this milestone. A key moment of the day involved a charity raffle to raise money in support of local charities. The total amount raised from the charity raffle was £2,560 and with matched funding from McDermotts, the grand total being donated to charities will be £5,060. We proudly sponsored the ‘Orlaith the Way to Donegal 2024’ charity bike ride, which covered 270 miles and elevation gains of 10,000 feet. Our sponsorship supported day one of their three-day journey which saw 56 cyclists complete the bike ride to fundraise for two great charities: NICE and Pieta House.
