It was an amazing opportunity to give back over the weekend with Mantivations’ volunteers for the Annual Mantivations Christmas Fundraiser 🎅🏽 We was able to pack over 250+ essential items for the homeless and service users Brixton Soup Kitchen and The Soul Shack and donate clothes, shoes and more! Over 50+ young professionals and students came together to make an impact and volunteer and we are so grateful! We want to say a huge thank you to the team: Mary Mante Bethlehem Sirak Keturah Dompreh Zoë Amoah Danielle Famiyesin Kofi Asiedu for pulling this together. Thank you to The Advocacy Academy for hosting us at their HQ for such an important cause! Just an important reminder that it’s not only Christmas that people need your help and these services but all year round. On the 14th of December, Mantivations will be hosting its annual Christmas fundraiser, supporting Brixton Soup Kitchen and the Soul Shack to supply essential packages and meals to feed vulnerable families and over 150 homeless people. We are committed to helping those in tough situations during this year round through our philanthropic arm and in collaboration with our corporate partners. We are fundraising to provide hot meals and Christmas hampers and also run a Christmas fun day for members of the community hosted at The Advocacy Academy HQ. We know first hand, every Christmas and all year round, young people in the most disadvantaged communities are facing a challenge no one talks about: Not having enough money to afford basic necessities such as food and heating. This spills into their professional and educational lives, where they are unable to perform to the best of their ability as a result of this. In a cost of living crisis, it's even more amplified for people from marginalised communities, where young people not only have to think about themselves but also helping their families. With the temperatures dropping, we want to do our best to ensure people are fed and warm and are able to have an enjoyable Christmas. A few ways you can help: 1. I attended a lovely networking session last week hosted by Mantivations. There was an interesting question along the lines of - how have your parents influenced your career journey? It's an interesting question, because as an African I have been brought up and encouraged to 'focus on my books' (if you know, you know ha). While, my parents have supported everything I do. I did observe, traditional subjects, career were highly celebrated within my community growing up. My Ghanaian grandmother, continues to bang on till this day about my Law degree, although I'm no longer in the field🤣. Besides, cultural expectations or parental preferences. It's so easy to pursue a career or make a decision because everyone else is doing it, or someone tells you that you should. Then things become draining, uninspiring and frustrating only because you didn't go for what you truly want. This is your reminder to choose you today💜. 👇Where you told to focus on your books too? On the 23rd of May, we hosted the Careers aren’t Linear panel talk. We brought together industry specialists across: Investment Banking, Solutions Architect, Medicine, Law and Architecture. The provided insight to young people on how to successfully break into their respective sectors. In attendance, we had a diverse range of students and young professionals across private equity, finance, government, law and more. This was an evening filled with candid discussions, networking and more. It was an insightful session, learning about what you can do to successfully perform during your first year of your new role and also how to successfully pivot. Introducing our Tech Speaker: Titi Belo Titi has been in solutions architecture for the past 6 years - transitioning from a technical degree to utilise in her current role. She has worked at reputable firms such as BT and also consulting in the public sector for a further 2 years. Whilst at university with a degree in Computer Science and also undertook an instructor role at Code First Girls to teach others on HTML and CSS. She is also certified in AWS Solutions Architecture. On the 23rd of December, Mantivations was able to successfully hand out 100+ essential emergency gift bag items and 100+ hot food packages to families in need in London. We partnered with Brixton Soup Kitchen and The Soul Shack to deliver hot food and essential items and clothes to service users and vulnerable families. We were also able to deliver face painting and fun activities for kids who visited on the day! It was an amazing day for our professionals to volunteer and network and learn about the amazing work these community organisations do each year, day in and day out. We want to say a big thank you to Here We Flo who donated over 300+ menstrual items and Beyond Our Youth and many more of our sponsors who made this day possible. We encourage everyone, it's not just Christmas when people need our help but all year round so please do try your best to see what you can do to help your local community and those most vulnerable.
