What do children think of when you ask them what they associate with Christmas?
Easy right? Toys & Santa!
For some families, this response doesn't create the sense of excitement that it should. It creates a feeling of dread knowing that they are going to struggle to provide even just one gift to their child this Christmas.
'But there's so many more important things to be prioritising over winter like heating, food & paying for a home'
Not for kids there isn't. Their understanding of Christmas is binary: if you’re good, Santa brings you a gift, if you’re bad, he won’t. Despite some parents best efforts to change this narrative given that they know they are going to struggle to provide for their child this Christmas, the Santa message is ubiquitous.
Imagine being 8 year old and waking on Christmas morning to find no gift. Racking your brains to think about what action meant Santa hadn't stopped for you?
This year The Teesside Charity would like to make sure every child on Teesside gets a toy this Christmas, and we'd love it if you could help.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of our staff, we've already had to make one drop at Elf HQ. With your help we'd love to have to make a couple more.
We're a designated drop off point for the Christmas Appeal this year. Our office is open weekdays 8am - 4.30pm at Urlay Nook (TS16 0TA). If you're passing, please drop one in. (ends 22nd Nov)
THANK YOU 🤍🎅🎄
