This is being driven by a surge in first-time buyers entering the market. With stamp duty changes coming into effect from 1st April 2025, first-time buyers who are looking to purchase a home over £300k need to get their purchase completed to avoid paying significantly more stamp duty. 💡 Daily average views for a property on Rightmove was 65, up 30% on last year, with 4 sales being agreed. Halifax has announced the launch of a new 1.5-year fixed-rate remortgage product 🏡 The deal is available from this week, but only to eligible customers who use their own conveyancer. It also comes with £250 cashback. ✨ This is an innovation I think the market needed. 2-year fixed deals are dominating the market, but a 1.5 year fixed deal gives people more flexibility to review the market and potentially secure a lower rate sooner. Stamp Duty Land Tax is a tax that buyers pay on property purchases over a certain value. First-time buyers may qualify for a Stamp Duty relief on properties below a certain threshold. However, changes to stamp duty from 1st April 2025, means first-time buyers will receive less relief.
