Reflecting on 2024 whilst preparing for 2025 🚀 As netball fans look ahead to the NSL’s relaunched League, there have been some major milestones to reflect on in the past year: The 2024 NSL season got underway with a sold-out Season Opener in Nottingham, later welcoming a record-breaking crowd to the 2024 NSL Grand Final in Birmingham where thousands of fans created an electric atmosphere as they watched Loughborough Lightning claim their second consecutive title. Attendances at games increased by 11% in the 2024 season, and more fans tuned in to watch from home than ever before, with a 53% increase in viewing figures on Sky Sports and a new broadcast partnership with BBC Sport. We went through a rigorous tender process, and subsequently said thank you and goodbye to Team Bath, Severn Stars, Surrey Storm and Strathclyde Sirens, four Clubs who have all contributed so much to the history of the League. Signalling the start of this bold new era, it was announced that two new teams will be joining the NSL in 2025. Brand new club Birmingham Panthers and Nottingham Forest Netball were revealed to be joining the LexisNexis Cardiff Dragons, NIC Leeds Rhinos, London Mavericks, London Pulse Netball Super League Team, Loughborough Lightning and Manchester Thunder Netball for 2025. Along with two new teams, came a host of exciting announcements, updates and innovations starting with the unveiling of a brand-new identity for the NSL, with bold new imagery reflecting the energy that the League's formidable athletes bring to the court each week and the passion of our fans. It was revealed that the 2025 Grand Final will take place at The O2, for the very first time, and a brand new one-day competition, the Netball Super Cup, was introduced. These major events reflect the League’s ambition to elevate the sport to new heights, marking a significant milestone on the journey to professionalisation. The NXT Gen League was introduced, an exciting competition that will nurture and develop the next generation of world class players and provide a pipeline of talent for the NSL. The NSL ended the year with the appointment of a brand-new Board of Directors, featuring incredible expertise from a range of industries that will lead the strategic direction of the organisation. And finally, to finish the year off in style it was revealed that the Super Shot will be introduced as one of a series of innovations that will be made to enhance the League in 2025. 💗 Thank you to everyone who has supported the NSL in 2024, including our incredible partners, we cannot wait to continue to push the boundaries with you in 2025. #Sport #Netball #LiveSport
