A year ago, I would have avoided the spotlight at all costs, feeling queasy at the thought of public speaking. Fast forward twelve months, after attending a communication master class led by Vinh Giang and receiving invaluable support from Tim Jackson, I proudly featured in two video case studies highlighting our SMART Industry journey at Worldwide Fruit Limited – one for OAL and one for QAD Redzone. From engaging discussions at the Podcast Lounge with Alastair Crawford and Yusuf Yeganeh to delivering presentations at the SUBCON event at the NEC, and facilitating icebreakers at our OPs quarterly workshop, the journey has been transformative. Just last week, Tim Jackson and I shared insights on our SMART Industry evolution with Ondrej Polak from LMAC Group, and how the SIRI assessment they performed underpins our roadmap. Not to forget a rewarding conversation with our local newspaper earlier in the year. Reflecting on this whirlwind of experiences, I am amazed at how far I've come in just a year. While the prospect still triggers nerves, the growth is undeniable and immensely gratifying. Gratitude to all who supported me throughout this incredible journey. 🙏

It’s been a busy month for our Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Centre (AMIC) – from major milestones to partner engagements, here’s what the team has been up to!   • AMIC hosted its latest Industry Board meeting at Riddel Hall, followed by a dinner to mark the second anniversary of the Board’s inception   • Major construction progress has been made on AMIC’s state-of-the-art new facility, the Factory of the Future, based at Global Point in Newtownabbey, which will help elevate advanced manufacturing in Northern Ireland   • Over the last six months, the AMIC team has grown by over 20 new team members, adding expertise in areas such as sustainability, digitalisation, design, and materials technology   • AMIC CEO Sam Turner is now part of Matrix, The Northern Ireland Science Industry Panel, joining 7 other new members to enhance innovation and economic growth in the region   • Our hands-on industry day at AMIC Queen’s Campus brought together local partners to discover how the latest tech advancements in CNC machine automation and precision are reshaping the aerospace manufacturing landscape – in collaboration with MSP and Productive Machines   • At the Northern Ireland Economic Conference and Invest Northern Ireland's Future in Focus strategy launch, AMIC CEO Sam Turner showcased the innovation centre's impact in transforming Northern Ireland manufacturing   • We’re proud to help power digital transformation, as Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council recently launched their Digital Factory Accelerator programme in collaboration with AMIC and LMAC Group   • Our team visited AMIC’s Factory of the Future site in Newtownabbey, where Henry Brothers Ltd provided an update on the outstanding social value work being delivered to provide opportunities for local communities through skills development and job opportunities   If you’re interested in engaging with AMIC, visit our website for more info: https://lnkd.in/dSwPkEK9   #AMIC #BRCityDeal

Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council launched their 'Digital Factory Accelerator Programme' this week, aimed at supporting manufacturers in initiating or accelerating their digital manufacturing transformation. Ondrej Polak at LMAC Group presented on the support available to undertake SIRI digital manufacturing maturity assessments through the programme. Colm Higgins provided an update on the Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Centre (AMIC) and support available through the Belfast Region City Deal at Queen's University Belfast. Justin Quinn showcased an Energy Calculator, IoT sensor hardware and other digital support available from Made Smarter Innovation - Smart Manufacturing Data Hub.
