Updates

  • Following the NBRA / VBRA’s Greener Bodyshop Awards earlier this year we told you we were inviting six of the winning apprentices, the sustainability leaders of the future, to a dedicated day on sustainability at our LKQ Academy site at T1 in Tamworth. 💚   The day took place on Monday this week when our tech team were joined by a group of apprentices from Steer Automotive Group, Gemini Accident Repair Centres Ltd and M & L COACHBUILDERS LIMITED to really dive into what we can do to make our industry and working practices as sustainable as possible. They covered so much during their day and we’ve included a few pics of what they got up to below!   Steve Hoe, Head of Academy and Organisation Development at Steer, joined the apprentices on the day, and he told us “It was great for the apprentices to spend some time with the tech team from LKQ Academy. They all learnt so much about working in a sustainable way, and it’s so important to raise awareness among our apprentices, who are the future and have the potential to make the biggest impact. They took a lot from the day, which they can now use as they continue to learn and develop their skills.”   Thank you to all the apprentices for coming along and spending time with us and to our LKQ Academy team for yet another brilliant sustainability day!

  • In the next of our Winter Tips series we're focusing on the paint mixing room. As we all know paint performance can be affected when it’s too cold (and too hot but that's obviously not a problem for many of us at the moment!) Click below to find out how to keep your paint performing at its best 👇 Don't forget to check back next week for the final one of our Winter Tips!

  • A couple of weeks ago our senior tech team and Regional Account Managers headed to Sherwin-Williams to get the exclusive low down on their latest paint platform - Ultra 9K.   The session was extremely informative, with a mixture of classroom-based discussions and the fun part of getting hands on with the product range and the associated digital offerings. It's days like these that help us stay at the forefront of the industry, working with supplier partners to explore new but beneficial platforms to bring to the market.    Thanks to the team at Sherwin-Williams for spending the time with us and showing us U9K. 😊

Last week, LKQ Bodyshop Division (UK & ROI) had the incredible opportunity to partner with Fix Auto Western Supermare at a vibrant skills fair aimed at inspiring the next generation of automotive professionals. The event was a fantastic success, filled with enthusiasm, learning, and hands-on experiences that left a lasting impression on all who attended. To engage the young minds present, we brought along our talented technical team, who showcased their expertise and passion for the automotive industry. One of the highlights of our participation was the introduction of our cutting-edge Virtual Reality (VR) setup. This innovative technology allowed school children to dive into the world of car painting in a safe and interactive environment. As the children donned VR headsets, they were transported into a simulated workshop where they could practice their painting skills on virtual vehicles. This immersive experience not only made learning fun but also provided them with a glimpse into the technical skills required in the automotive industry. Our team was on hand to guide them, offering tips and tricks while sharing insights about the various career paths available in the sector. The excitement in the air was palpable as students took turns experimenting with different colors and techniques, all while enjoying the thrill of being in a virtual workshop. Watching their faces light up with joy and curiosity was truly rewarding, and it reinforced our commitment to nurturing the talents of young individuals interested in automotive careers. At LKQ Bodyshop, we believe in the importance of supporting educational initiatives and empowering the youth within our community. Collaborating with Fix Auto Western Supermare at the skills fair was an excellent opportunity for us to give back and inspire the next generation of automotive professionals. Together, we are paving the way for a brighter future in the automotive industry! #LKQBodyshop #FixAuto #SkillsFair #AutomotiveFuture #VR #NextGen Lee Smedley Lenny John
