  • Mayor of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, Councillor Kurtis Dickson joined Great British Menu chef Gemma Austin this week to cut the ribbon on Carryduff's first Lidl Northern Ireland store. The opening marks the revitalisation of the formerly derelict site, and the creation of 35 new jobs. The new store represents phase one of a £9m investment by Lidl Northern Ireland in the redevelopment of the site. The council welcomes the new store, and the company's exciting plans for the future, all of which supports further regeneration and development, and demonstrates the advantages of doing business in Lisburn and Castlereagh.

  • We were delighted to welcome the quarterly meeting of the Dublin Belfast Economic Corridor (DBEC) Partnership to Lisburn and Castlereagh. Hillsborough Castle and Gardens was a fitting location and a great example of the opportunities that exist along the 100-mile Dublin Belfast Economic Corridor as a key tourism destination and fantastic place to do business. DBEC has endless opportunities to be explored to drive regional growth and shape the best possible environment for businesses and for people to live, grow and thrive. We are a committed partner in the DBEC initiative and look forward to unlocking the potential for our businesses in Lisburn and Castlereagh. 💻Read more about this partnership of four Northern Ireland councils, four Irish councils and two universities at https://lnkd.in/ez-7FNHw

  • Young and inspiring entrepreneur Alice Thompson delivered a talk at our Entrepreneur Network event that amazed our Regeneration and Growth Chair, Alderman Amanda Grehan and our 70 local business representatives. It was very evident why Alice, co-founder of Social Bite Café, is a globally renowned speaker. From a young age Alice was driven to help others and after extensive research set up her first Social Bite Café to help the homeless. From this she arranged 'Big Sleepout' events raising £4m towards the construction of 800 homes for the homeless after match funding from the Scottish Government. Alderman Amanda Grehan, commending the event for empowering local entrepreneurs and fostering collaboration said: “This morning’s event demonstrates the benefit of bringing visionary leaders like Alice Thompson to our community. Her story is a powerful testament to how purpose and ambition can transform businesses and lives." 💻Read more at: https://lnkd.in/e7vHuz5Y Social Bite Social Enterprise Northern Ireland
