What an incredible project! Sherwood Observatory's dedication to educating children and reigniting excitement about the skies is truly inspiring. Gartec Lifts Aritco PublicLift Access will enhance accessibility for all visitors, ensuring everyone can fully enjoy every level of this remarkable facility. Congratulations 🎉 to everyone involved in bringing this dream to life! 🚀🌌 https://lnkd.in/emTR3ARz
Sherwood Observatory members have looked up to the sky in Sutton in Ashfield since the 1970s and explored the night sky through the largest privately owned telescope in the United Kingdom. They had a dream that one day they would be able to continue their passion despite the vagaries of the weather or the inconvenience of daytime! In 2014 the members at Sherwood Observatory bought a piece of land and started to turn their dreams into reality. In 2023 G F Tomlinson were engaged as a contractor to build the new Planetarium and Science Centre and the construction work began. We would love to take you on a journey to see the ground remediated, the foundations installed followed by the transfer slab, the steel frame, the roof, glazing and finishes that have turned the dream into an amazing world class facility! Sherwood Observatory members are a group of amazing volunteers who work tirelessly to spread understanding and knowledge about Science Technology, Engineering and Maths within the wider community without payment. They engage with all levels of the community, regardless of background, education or abilities. Over the past year while our project has developed, we have witnessed these inspiring people bring excitement, understanding and joy to so many members of the community. Now that the project has been handed over and the Observatory prepares to open the doors to this new facility, the project team wishes them the very best for the future. We hope their plans develop and exceed their expectations. And we hope the amazing force for good that drives them all thrives for generations to come. We are sure many people will want to engage and visit this amazing facility you can do so by clicking the link below enjoy… https://lnkd.in/ehsDTRtV Anotherkind Architects HSP Consulting Engineers Limited Pick Everard D J Swallow Construction Ltd Amptron Electrical Services Ltd OPTIMUS ARCHITECTURAL LTD G MOLLISON PLASTERING CONTRACTORS LIMITED Phase 9 Roofing Ltd PREFA Group JR Howitt Decorators SIGNATURE CARPETS AND FLOORING LIMITED RSA Cosmos ST Engineering Antycip GRASS CONCRETE LIMITED Gartec Lifts AFS EARTHMOVING & AGGREGATES Empire Scaffold FMP LOGICAL DEMOLITION LTD Ashfield District Council UK government Leveling Up STEM Learning UK SCAPE ATTFE College
