Christmas is always a good time to (inter)connect with your neighbours... 18 countries across Europe all sharing the same day-ahead prices 🎅 Demand is lower than usual due to a combination of mild-for-winter temperatures and festive holidays. With only a moderate amount of wind power in most of Europe today, interconnection is playing a significant role and prices are relatively high considering the low demand. This pattern looks set to continue over the festive period.

This year’s Power Market Outlook, sponsored by SSE plc, dives deep into the UK Government's ambitious plans for a clean power system by 2030. With just five years to achieve unprecedented levels of low-carbon energy development, action is critical- and LCP Delta is at the forefront of identifying what needs to happen next. Using our market-leading modelling capability, we've developed a unique Clean Power Scenario to inform policymakers and industry leaders on the challenges and solutions for decarbonising the UK’s power sector. Key insights from our analysis include: 🔋 Scale-up of low-carbon technologies: Annual build rates must leap from 3GW in 2023 to 11.3GW per year. 💷 Increased CfD budgets: Offshore wind CfD budgets need a 65% boost, with more support for solar and onshore wind. ⚡ Transmission network upgrades: Current timelines for transmission upgrades will hinder Clean Power 2030. 🏛️ Policy and market reforms: Accelerated decisions on critical programmes, like REMA, are essential to reduce investor uncertainty. Time is short, but the solutions are clear. Visit our website or subscriber portal to access the full report and learn more about the pathway to Clean Power 2030. https://bit.ly/4iJTCJE
