  • Have we moved into a world where it’s so easy to apply for jobs that it's actually harder to win roles? Is ‘easy apply’ a good thing? Will it be possible for people (or systems) to distinguish between AI generated resumes and human made ones? These are just some of the questions we’ve been pondering this week at JustRemote and Workster.co In the past year we know that applicants per job listing has increased substantially. This is partly a reflection of the job market and the needs of people to find roles. However it also coincides neatly with the rise of AI. It’s not unusual now for a job listing to receive hundreds if not thousands of applicants. This means it’s easier than ever for your application to be lost in the crowd and harder than ever for recruiting teams to give applicants a fair share of time and attention. Interestingly it feels like the job seeking process is in an arms race. Easy apply and AI make it faster for applicants to put in applications. At the same time applicant tracking systems, used by recruiting teams, are filtering these applications with AI and other techniques to improve throughput and as a result you can be missed. For job seekers it feels like now is the time to ask yourself not just “am I a good fit for this role” but also “what can I do to help me stand out from the crowd” What do you think about AI and Easy Apply? Is it even possible to stand out from the crowd?
