Did you know that the JRM Group Full Motion Driver Simulator uses a fixed 180-degree wrap-around screen upon which the visual #simulation is displayed? Initially this gave us a couple of challenges: 1. The simulation software was designed to display the imagery on a flat screen; when displayed on a curved screen there is a visual distortion of the simulated environment. 2. As the motion #platform moves, this screen remains fixed in place, leading to miscues and increased feelings of motion sickness. The #solution to these problems is normally provided by prohibitively expensive hardware. So what did we do? Technically, both problems were solved using a post-process shader injector. In reality this means that our talented software engineer had to learn a previously unfamiliar #programming language (HLSL) to create a bespoke solution.
