Seymour is confused by the water coolers dotted around the fulfilment centres and offices. He’s asking why they’re filled with water and not hot chocolate. Maybe that’s a good question to ask the Leadership Team! ☕

Seymour’s just fallen down the dispatch chute!  As you might notice, behind Seymour, our parcel sorter has several chutes that safely deposit parcels in their appropriate dispatch area.  Each chute represents a different carrier and/or service, which enables our outbound teams to ship orders out incredibly efficiently. The parcel sorter scans the shipment and automatically allocates it to the correct place. 📦 The chute Seymour came down had been allocated to ‘Naughty Elves.’

Fun fact: our VNAs are the only areas of our UK fulfilment centre where you can see one from one side of the site to the other. And without binoculars, even that’s pretty difficult. 🔭

Listen to this elf: recycle, recycle, recycle! ♻️ At J&J, we aim to recycle as much as we can. As you can see by Seymour’s bed of cardboard, our boxes are flattened and bundled to be responsibly recycled by our waste partners.  While the eCommerce industry is growing, so is the waste it’s producing. By using fit-for-purpose packaging, made from increasingly sustainable materials, we aim to reduce waste, recycle and reuse.

An elf’s favourite pastime is to sit by the warm glow of a campfire, roasting marshmallows and singing songs. 🔥 Thankfully, our canteen has a seating area built around a cosy little campfire. The campfire is one of the things that makes our head office feel a little different. It’s not real, so there’s no fire hazard to worry about, but Seymour’s confused about why his marshmallows aren’t melting.

Seymour’s showing off one of our upcoming service offerings: engraving!  For brands wanting to provide bespoke and personalised items to their customers, we’ve got you covered. Our engraving service is still being tested internally, but we’ll be rolling it out to the broader customer base very soon. ⏲

Beware! Seymour’s guarding the entrance to the mezzanine. He's not the scariest bit of muscle, but he’s all we can spare right now. 🤭 Known within J&J as ‘The Mez’, the mezzanine is the most recent addition to our UK fulfilment centre and is adjoined to the main picktower. It enables us to use vertical space more, and we use it primarily to process returns. Previously, returns sat by our Goods In area. With Returns now on top, we can allocate more space to both Goods In and Returns, increasing throughput for both departments.
