Steve, a teacher in Kenya decided to build a school in a rural community where there was no education for village children. He is one of the IVET Foundation’s heros. We were pleased to enable him to give a Christmas present of food to the villages and for the children to have a gift. Steve embodies the spirit of Christmas. Jane and I were delighted to award the IVET Values Quality Mark to the first Cambodian school in Siem Reap. Here we are presenting the certificate to inspirational Nilpech who is implementing Values-based Education (VbE) in his school. The children are proud too to have the certificate. The IVET Foundation's pleased to provide some financial support so that VbE books could be bought to support the curriculum.

IVET Foundation has received some thought provoking replies to this post, from the folk mentioned in blue. The key question is whether a deep moral deterioration is being normalised in some parts of our culture. Your views?
As a Foundation we promote Values-based Living. Values that nurture our best qualities. Last week my 12 Year old Granddaughter was taken by her Dad, for her first experience of a professional football match - West Ham v Man U. She is a very keen footballer. Unfortunately, at the game she was surrounded by people of all ages shouting abuse and swearing at the payers and ref. She became distressed and her Dad spent the journey home counselling her. Her Dad wanted to share this experience with me, as he felt so sad that professional football has a culture that seemed to promote disrespect, aggression and intolerance. Am I right to be concerned or should I advise that children should not be taken to football games at this level? What practically can we do? Or do children need to see this side of life? Is is just football games? Coincidentally. I was recently taken by a keen rugby player to watch the Leicester Tigers. Crowd behaviour was good humoured and respectful. Why the difference? The IVET Foundation held a 'noble conversation' today for its Patrons and Trustees. It was a profound meeting of minds, who are helping to create a world where education and people in general are focused on the flourishing of society. We intend to be more practically impactful in the world and offer, as Bart McGettrick eloquently said about his work in the Middle East, hope, love and justice to humanity.
