About us
ISPA is the trade association for providers of internet services and is the voice of the UK internet industry. Founded in 1995, ISPA represents more than 200 companies in the internet sector, from large household names to SMEs serving a mix of business and consumer customers. ISPA’s members are rolling out the infrastructure, networks and services that the UK depends on and are at the heart of the digital economy. Our primary focus is on representing the industry to policymakers and the media by providing a unified voice on regulatory and policy issues, and we regularly meet with government officials, regulators and parliamentarians. In addition to this, ISPA brings members together through its working groups, an active events programme and communicates with members through various channels. We also play an important role in raising industry standards and the overall development of the industry. ISPA UK reposted this
I'd imagine a few sore heads across the #ISP sector this morning.... what a night, the biggest and best Awards yet. On behalf of the ISPA UK team, I would like to say a huge thank you to all who attended and contributed to the spectacular evening, truly amazing to see all the hard work that goes into delivering the connectivity crucial to the UK's future. It is a privilege to be part of the team that puts on the show that allows all of you to come together, let your hair down and celebrate this outstanding work.... I hope you all enjoyed yourselves, I know I did! A big congratulations to all the winners across the 18 categories, and to all of the people that have contributed to their success. And to the 24, yes 24 organisations that sponsored the event, thank you for your support, without your contributions this event wouldn't be possible. I'd also like to highlight the fantastic work of the Raffles London at The OWO team (Francesco and Nikki et al.), the food was excellent and the service was impeccable, certainly the best we've had in 26 years of the #ISPAs and a credit to your venue! Also the AV team at All Safe and Sound, once again delivering a fabulous job and making our lives so much easier. On a personal note, big shoutouts for Michaela Zemanova and Bea D. who were vital to the event delivery from start to finish. They are fantastic colleagues who did an amazing job and truly deserve the appreciation of me, the broader team and anyone who attended! Now with that out of the way, time to put my feet up for the weekend.... planning for our 27th awards starts Monday.

And finally it wouldn’t be an ISPA Awards without an Internet Hero, someone who has dedicated their career to improving connectivity in the UK! And this year’s winner…… drum roll please... Malcolm Corbett Malcolm has been involved with the Internet from the very early days. In 2010 he established his own co-op in the form of when there were just a handful of start-up altnets with ambitions to take on established providers. In 2013 INCA was instrumental in encouraging the Public Accounts Committee to review the Superfast programme, which led to Building Digital UK opening up to more competition. It's fair to say that many of ISPA's members today would simply not exist without the groundbreaking work that Malcolm, and the team he built at INCA, have done in promoting a competitive industry. A big round of applause to Lightning Fibre for winning the Best Consumer ISP under 100k - one of our most coveted and popular awards. They impressed judges with their customer satisfaction scores, and their progress in delivering the fastest residential broadband in the region. They are also working effectively in connecting new affordable housing projects by offering one year of free connection to 10% of residents, and making great progress on some new projects undertaken since last year.
