We're delighted that the very talented Keely Tattersfield from Birmingham Irish Association will be running The Big Half in aid of Irish Youth Foundation UK Here's Keely's story, please donate, like share and comment to spread her story far and wide and raise as much as possible. Keely's Story Since its inception, The Irish Youth Foundation has awarded over £6 million to help improve the lives and opportunities of young Irish people in the UK. Grants are awarded annually to a wide range of welfare organisations and community groups working with disadvantaged young Irish people and their families in Britain and Northern Ireland and to Irish students at colleges and universities in the UK. As the foundation is almost entirely voluntary, the funds raised go directly to where they are most needed. My work at Birmingham Irish Association means I have seen first hand the wonderful things that have been enabled by the work of this charity which is why I am running to support it. The Big Half follows a stunning 13.1 mile closed-road course, starting by London's iconic Tower Bridge and finishing at Cutty Sark in Greenwich. It's a vibrant and fun community running festival that brings Londoners of all backgrounds and abilities together in a celebration of the city's diversity - while raising much-needed funds for charity in the process! The Big Half takes place on the 7th of September 2025. https://lnkd.in/ebARbz_V #donation #charity #iyfuk #bighalf2025 #running #birminghamirish #irish #birmingham #brumirishuk

Supporting disadvantaged young people of Irish heritage in Britain and Northern Ireland
About us
The aim of the IYF (UK) is to raise funds and award grants that benefit a wide range of projects that help improve the lives of children and young disadvantaged Irish people in Britain and Northern Ireland. The IYF has donated over £5.75 million to projects to date and is the only national charity in Britain specifically aimed at helping young Irish people. The types of projects the IYF supports provide help and support for the homeless, employment and training schemes, women and children escaping violence, young offenders and prisoners, drug rehabilitation, and cultural activities. The people who benefit are made up of socially, economically or culturally disadvantaged young Irish adults and children, and the aim is to help them lead a more integrated and fulfilling life. Each year the IYF receives several grant applications from projects all over Britain and Northern Ireland. The IYF has an independent Advisory Committee, made up of various specialists in the sector. Our expert committee uses well-defined criteria and assesses grant applications on an annual basis. Once the Advisory Committee has made all their assessments, they then make their recommendations to the IYF Board of Trustees.
