Investing in Women reposted this
'Women working at home could risk missing out'! says Nationwide boss. But the real question is... Missing out on what? Since working from home... The 1-hour daily commute → Replaced with the school run Meetings that END before 5:00 pm → Enable me to enjoy a more nutritious family meal or spend time on exercise and self-care Money spent on additional wrap-around childcare → Used instead for quality family time Remote work enables me to: ✨ Save time ✨ Feel more autonomous ✨ Become healthier and happier It's also proven to improve: ✅ Motivation and staff retention ✅ Productivity Say you spend 1 hour commuting to work. That's at least 31,200 MINUTES a year. Of dead time 🪦 In a car. On a train. Before we've even factored in stressful delays. And it's sucking the life out of people - before they've even set foot in the office and started work. I've spoken to 1000s of candidates... Remote work is in VERY high demand. Especially for women who do the bulk of the childcare at home and need remote work just to fit everything in!!! ✅ If anything - remote and flexible work has enabled more women to maintain their careers rather than have to take something lower-paid and lower-skilled just because it offers flexibility as previous generations have done. And for many people, the benefits outweigh the potential gains of traipsing to an office 5 days a week purely for face-time. Thoughts? Do you think women working from home is a bad thing?
