As of July 2024, we are actively recruiting additional individuals to join Peer Support Canada's Advisory Committee. The Advisory Committee is responsible for responding to items brought forward by PSC staff related to program development, operations planning, and organization transition planning by providing input and recommendations. The AC is also responsible for connecting PSC to the needs of the peer support community across Canada, drawing from an anti-racist and anti-oppressive lens to help increase the accessibility of PSC programming, and for participating on sub-committees as needed. We are specifically looking for individuals who have expertise in the realms of fund development, organizational governance, and anti-racist/anti-oppressive practices. We are also looking to ensure there are people on our committee who are willing to bring their lived expertise of being non-binary, male, Indigenous, Black, and/or a Person of Colour, and/or from the provinces and territories of Alberta, Québec, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Manitoba, Northwest Territories, Yukon, and Nunavut. What is often missing is the time, the network and some of the practical skills needed to think through, plan and develop our ideas into action. We've created a dedicated space for peer leaders to learn or harness the skills needed to drive change and move into action. This is called the Peer Leadership Incubator: the only Incubator dedicated to enhancing peer support. We believe in the democratisation of leadership, that you can be a leader with or without the title.
