We at Inspiring Culinary Generations (ICG) are writing to share an update about our competitions. It is with a mix of emotions that we announce a pause in the Aspiring Student Chefs and Keen Home Cooks competitions for the year 24/25 as we develop our offering to better fit our partners and contestants and come back bigger and stronger, hopefully for many years to come. Both Aspiring Student Chefs and Keen Home Cooks’ competitions have brought the team, judges, competitors and the wider hospitality community so much joy. We are so proud of what everyone has achieved with many going on to successful roles within hospitality as well as those who have stepped into the limelight featuring on shows such as Masterchef. Our efforts would not have been possible without all our amazing sponsors, for whom we are forever grateful alongside our marvellous organisational team and all those who offered endless support along the way. About us
The Inspiring Culinary Generations (ICG) Competition is a national competition designed to acknowledge & encourage excellence in the catering industry and in the home. This event reaches out to all children, young catering students & keen home cooks who have a passion for cooking. Established in 2012, the Awards quickly assumed a prominent position, attracting the attention of a prestigious group of sponsors and partners. This interest has grown year on year and we are delighted to have the competition become an annual calendar event. Open to home cooks and students anywhere in the UK, the course is supported by the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts, Teflon™ Non-Stick Coatings - Chemours and by The Bournemouth & Poole College. We are offering the winners in all three categories the chance to win some great prizes. For students, this is certainly one of the best opportunities to gain insight into the industry and, depending upon their age, potentially a life changing opportunity to receive a three-year Specialised Chefs Scholarship, training to become a fully qualified chef. The scholarship is divided into two categories; work based training with a chef member of the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts at one of the finest hotels or restaurants in the UK and full time block release tuition at Bournemouth & Poole College. Then, for the home foodie who loves to cook and wants to simply showcase their skills, passions and knowledge, there is the chance to win cookware & a luxury hamper. A passion for food and cookery often starts in the home, so we're inviting children under the age of 18 to enter with their parents/grandparents or guardian (over 18) in a competition that sees generations working together, sharing passions and inspiring each other. A team of esteemed judges chaired by Lesley Waters will choose their Regional Champions from online entries, inviting them to attend the national cook-off.
