A festive throwback! Celebrating the global Christmas food classic with Great British Chefs 🌍✨ #christmastraditions #foodculture #worldcuisine
From KFC in Japan to Seabird in Greenland: The surprising foods of Christmas 🎄 🌎 🦤 🥣 🦃 🍲 🍗 For many of us, the festive season is a time of traditions—comforting meals, familiar flavours, and shared memories. But what makes this season even more special is the incredible variety of ways it’s celebrated globally. From Japan’s surprising love for KFC on Christmas Eve to Greenland’s kiviak (fermented seabird), this infographic infogr8 put together for Great British Chefs explores the unique festive foods enjoyed across the globe. This year, Christmas is taking on a whole new meaning for me as I embark on a solo trip to Japan—something that’s been on the bucket list as early as the Tamagotchi days! I’m excited to experience their culture and traditions firsthand (yes, including KFC). This idea of celebrating what makes us unique ties deeply to my upcoming project in 2025. We each bring something unique to the table. Without giving too much away, it’s about purpose.. creating space for individuals to express, connect, and thrive—where our differences aren’t just acknowledged but celebrated. To everyone I’ve worked with, learned from, or shared ideas with this year, thank you. You’ve been part of a rich tapestry that’s shaping what’s next. Wherever you are and however you celebrate, I wish you a season full of joy, reflection, and connection. Here’s to carrying that spirit forward into 2025.

When Insights Meet Creativity: Lessons from Shopify and Stripe 🌍📈 Black Friday and Cyber Monday bring billions in transactions—global sales reached $5 billion with Shopify merchants alone on this Black Friday, peaking at $4.6 million in sales per minute. But it’s also a showcase for how insights can come to life in modern, creative ways. Consider two titans turning insights into experiences: 1. Shopify 🚀: Futuristic, playful, and interactive. Their dashboard takes you into space with synth MIDI boards, gravity toggles, and a cheeky “do not touch” button. Stats like edge requests and webhooks per minute may seem arbitrary, but they’re crafted to delight engineers and spark curiosity. 2. Stripe 📊: Retro-inspired with a “Business Flow Control Monitor” theme. It’s all about deep dives: technical diagrams, Top Selling Cities Visualizers (TSCV), and thoughtful explanations of every metric. Less playful, more analytical, but still visually captivating. Stripe’s overall creative concept edges it for me—it draws more curiosity and, in turn, I’d expect it to have longer-lasting appeal. There’s also a technical win: as per Stripe’s front-page manual, 'all data displayed are the nearest approximations'. Yet Stripe has done a remarkable job capturing and presenting the info in a live (or near-live) format. Shopify, less so, with numbers not presented in real time (as my tech team kindly pointed out: try turning off your Wi-Fi to test!). Shopify and Stripe are both highly collaborative environments. They swarm together and make useful things fast when someone shouts out an idea in a Slack channel. (Check out the backstory in my comments.) As AI and tech evolve, we’ll see even bolder ways to present insights—mixing utility with creativity. Knowing the balance between when to play and when to get serious will be key. Which approach speaks to you: Shopify’s playful edge or Stripe’s detailed depth? - - - - - #BlackFriday #CyberMonday #retailinsights #datavisualization At infogr8, we integrate AI, data science, and top-notch design to transform complex data into actionable insights with gallery-quality visuals.

Workshops don't always have to be directly about work. Earlier this month, our Information Design Lead Martina Zunica spoke at C'est La Viz in Utrecht on the value of introducing playfulness in data visualisation workshops. Here are 5 important elements to consider when preparing a data-centred creative workshop: 1. The audience – Are they involved in data? How old are they? Where are they from? 2. The goal – What is the main learning I want them to take from the workshop? 3. The tools – Is the workshop online or in-person? Are we working in a digital or analogue way? 4. The method – What shape will the workshop take? 5. The fun factor – How can we add some creative spice into the mix? How are you bringing the creative energy to your in-house teams? #DataVizPlay #VisualisationWorkshops #WorkshopInspiration

🌎 The Weather Channel continues to showcase the power of data and storytelling to raise awareness about the imminent threats of climate change. Their approach mirrors our mission at infogr8—to elevate data as a tool for meaningful impact. As Richard noted, their fusion of data, creativity, and technology opens new opportunities to engage and inspire action across broader audiences. We’re always inspired by organisations pushing the boundaries of data-driven storytelling, and The Weather Channel is setting the standard. Watch the video and see how data storytelling can drive real change ▶️ #DataStorytelling #Innovation #CreativeTech #Infogr8 #Inspiration
The Weather Channel deserves recognition for showcasing the power of visuals - especially when driving action is critical. First and foremost, I sincerely hope everyone in the affected areas stays safe during this severe event. 🙏 While accuracy and rules are vital in presenting insights, sometimes impact and storytelling must blur those lines to elicit the right response. In this case, using 3D immersive visuals to communicate imminent danger to the public is not only effective, but necessary. Looking back at Covid, where governments relied on basic charts, there’s a lesson here: to convey the magnitude of crises - whether it’s public health or the climate crisis - we need data brought to life in a variety of media. Dramatic, evidence-based visuals, like these immersive televised reports, can cut through the noise and move people from the fence to action. I believe we need more of these impactful formats to highlight long term future issues that are often overlooked by the public - before it is too late. Do you agree?
