We're proud to share the recent launch of our partnership with United World Schools (UWS), a fantastic charity committed to providing children in marginalised communities with access to quality, inclusive education. To get the ball rolling, we held a 'bake sale' earlier this month which saw all proceeds from sales of our festive white chocolate and cranberry muffins go to the charity. £2,285 was raised, which IFG then doubled up - taking us to a £4,570 total - the equivalent of providing 45 children with a year of education. Thank you to our secondary school catering teams who promoted the star bake with these great displays! This fundraiser marks the start of an important journey for IFG. We are excited to work with our colleagues and clients to support UWS. Because when we #EducateTheFuture, we #ChangeTheFuture. Well done to Robert Chambers and the team involved in hosting this fantastic fish filleting masterclass recently, using some amazing mackerel from Directseafoodscolchester! 🐟👏 Two classes of Year 10 pupils from Cambourne Village College learned how to gut, fillet and cook these oily fish, which are both tasty and rich in health benefits. They proceeded to serve them up alongside simple salads and garnishes. 🥗🍽️ As expected, there were a few squeamish moments, but chef Rob was really impressed by how everyone gave it a go and embraced the experience! 🙌 We had great feedback from the school: "Our Food Prep and Nutrition pupils loved the opportunity to learn how to properly fillet a fish with Rob. In addition, learning how to cook and plate the fish with a range of wonderful resources the team had prepared for our pupils! 🌟 Introducing Our New Allergen Buddies! 🌟 We recently launched our Allergen Buddy scheme, created to help diners with allergies feel confident and supported when it comes to meal ordering. Each of our catering teams has a dedicated expert on hand daily to provide clear and relevant allergen information to students and other members of the school community. Wearing distinctive Allergen Buddy hats and aprons, they are easy to spot, making it simple to get answers and make informed choices. Our aim is to ensure our meals are as accessible as possible to those with dietary needs, while fostering a positive culture of awareness and inclusion across each school we partner with. Congratulations to our brilliant colleague, Susan Gratton, for successfully completing her Level 4 Apprenticeship in Hospitality Management! 👏 🎉 Since joining us as Group Manager for the Excalibur Academies Trust schools, she has been an incredible asset to the team. This is a fantastic achievement which showcases her hard work in the catering industry. Susan shares her experience: “If you’re thinking about doing an apprenticeship, just go for it!
