Congratulations and huge thanks Jeff Wasil for your leadership of the ICOMIA Marine Engines Committee (IMEC) and to all of it's members. It's great to see how our efforts invested into #PropellingOurFuture have been adopted and incorporated into national policy.
I can honestly say that this is one of the #proudest moments in my research career. U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced action plans for five transportation sectors. I was working as one of the lead authors for the #Maritime_Action_Plan, which was released today. Brilliant people from U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), Argonne National Laboratory, National Renewable Energy Laboratory came together for over a year and produced this document - an action plan to make the US Maritime Sector #robust, #resilient, #competitive for the future, and #decarbonized. Josh Messner from DOE has been a rock of this project. His support, guidance, strength, and determination towards the action plan has been crucial. From Argonne, Chris Kolodziej and I collaborated to write the bulk of this mammoth document. Formerly from PNNL, David Hume started working on a decarbonization strategy a few years ago. Other coauthors are Alyson Azzara, Ph.D., Galen Hon, Tyler Clevenger, and Marcelo Norsworthy from DOT, and Aaron Hula from EPA. There are quite a few supporting contributors to this significant piece of work. My thanks to all of them. You can read the full document here --- https://lnkd.in/gVjqNNje Along with the Maritime Action Plan, the Rail Action Plan and Medium/Heavy Duty Action Plan were also released today.
