With Chromium (VI) being added to the REACH restriction list, the ICOMIA Chemicals Group have produced a guidance document detailing how you can safely use the substance if there is no alternative. The recent EIGE Gender Equality Index highlights the persistent gender gap across Europe. While progress has been made, there's still a long way to go to achieve a truly equitable society. How does this affect the leisure marine industry? - Limited representation: Women are often underrepresented in leadership roles and decision-making positions within the boating industry. - Work-life balance: Unpaid care responsibilities can negatively affect a person’s work-life balance, requiring flexible work arrangements and a supportive workplace culture. - Stereotypes and biases: Harmful stereotypes can limit women's opportunities and discourage them from pursuing careers in the boating sector. ICOMIA was honoured to be part of the celebrations of Boating Sanya which was held 5-8 December 2024 at the Sanya International Yachting Centre. Represented by Su Lin Cheah, Regional Representative APAC, we were privileged to share a global perspective on the industry today and updates on ICOMIA’s work. Su Lin also made an address at the event’s Industry Forum themed “Expansion of China Yacht Brands”, which featured a presentation by Allen Leng, Founder of Heysea Yachts from its early days to its breakthrough in the global superyacht market. Other speakers who presented on their expertise included Mahmoud Itani Joost Mertens arnaud lemeunier Fabio Bronda . The Forum concluded with an enlightening roundtable discussion by Chinese industry professionals, moderated by Samuel Xu on the opportunities and challenges of creating awareness and building the high-end yachting market in China. Boating Sanya was organised by ICOMIA Member, Hainan Marine Trade Exchange Services (HMTES) under the auspices of the Hainan Provincial Government and City of Sanya. The event showcased 200 boats and yachts comprising brands from China and around the world, along with an exhibition of exclusive premium lifestyle brands from China ranging from fine wines to premium cigars. ICOMIA is delighted to support Hainan’s leadership and their journey to develop Hainan to its full potential as one of China’s premier boating markets.
