  • How do we move beyond generational stereotypes and create a truly inclusive environment? Research shows that all generations want the same out of work: good compensation, meaningful work, and career growth. However, many organisations are still shaping their multi-generational workplace strategy. Our latest research highlights that the differences appear in our everyday experiences. As people grow up in different contexts, there are variations in preferences around communication, working styles, and leadership expectations, which can heighten differences across multi-generational teams. Our latest report addresses this issue with actionable insights into generational dynamics, debunking myths, and building collaboration and understanding in the workplace. By bridging these generational gaps, organisations can unlock stronger cohesion and greater productivity within their teams. Want to learn more? Download our report here: https://lnkd.in/eTbyXF8H

  • Have you embarked on a transformation programme that didn't meet its goals? You are not alone; research shows that around 70% of transformation programmes fail. The good news is that there is a clear set of actions that have been shown to move the needle, and one of those is employee engagement. Research from McKinsey showed that organisations that engage more than 7% of their population in change deliver positive shareholder value. The message is clear: for your transformation programme to deliver value, make sure you involve your people in the process and give them some accountability for success. How can you do that? HSM Advisory is here to help. Our Collaboration Jams enable you to engage 10s of thousands of your people in conversation around your change initiatives to uncover where the enablers and blockers are, co-create solutions for the future, and create a sense of shared accountability across the business. Want to learn more? • Just 6% of our recent masterclass participants said Individual Drive - taking a personalised approach to productivity - was a focus for them when it comes to productivity. Yet, it is clear from broader productivity conversations that individuals are seeking ways to better manage their time and energy. A recent Observer article features our very own Anna Gurun, who highlights a balance between busyness and true productivity. In the article she reminds us of a crucial point: ticking off tasks does not always mean achieving what you need to. The article also looks at cutting-edge tools like GenAI that promise to reduce "busywork" and enable us to spend more time on more creative tasks. While technology does have the potential to help, as Anna mentions, understanding your goals and challenges is just as critical. Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/e7dYsTjG

Some fascinating stats about the future of work: ·      50% of children aged under ten today will live to be a hundred ·      Longevity economy – people over 50 represent 50% of global spend ·      Over 40 countries offering digital nomad visas – compare this with the tension of companies requiring employees to return to the physical office ·      200 million knowledge workers per week use ChatGPT for work (doubled from this time last year) – is there agreement on who gets the “time refund” that AI is creating? ·      65 million workers now work in a climate related role – is your organisation building/buying your green talent pipeline? Thanks to Watermark Search International for hosting this fascinating webinar on Sustainable Productivity (led by Alison Hernandez, Lead for HSM Advisory and Co-founder and Director of ReCreate100.) • As Generative AI continues to develop at a rapid pace, leaders are faced with a critical decision - embrace it solely for boosting productivity, or as a transformative tool that reshapes what their workforce can achieve.   A recent experiment conducted by BCG revealed that GenAI does more than increase efficiency; it significantly broadens the range of tasks employees can tackle, even without prior experience. However, there is a caveat; those with prior experience in those tasks saw greater success, while others risked over-reliance on the tool.   For leaders focused on maximising productivity, they should not only aim to integrate AI but also cultivate an organisational mindset that enables people to assess complex problems effectively. This approach doesn’t just improve efficiency—it equips teams to navigate new challenges and adjust their roles to meet changing needs.   Organisations that adopt AI in this way will likely see expanded talent pools and greater role adaptability. The future of work is not just about efficiency - it is about equipping people to step into new, often specialised tasks, and truly thrive in their roles.   We are taking a deeper dive into Generative AI and Productivity as part of the Future of Work by HSM. • We spent this morning with members of our FoW by HSM Advisory community discussing the topic of productivity. Work has evolved, with greater complexity and variety than ever before. - Longevity: People are living and working longer. We are starting to see up to 5 generations in the workplace. - Technology: Our relationship with technology is evolving from one of "an additional tool" to one of "human + AI collaboration". - Workplace Flexibility: We have shifted from all in the office 9 to 5, to remote and flexible working being widespread. This shifting environment means that productivity is complex. Not only is there variation in how it is seen across sectors, but within organisations too. Warehouse employees at a global retailer will have their productivity measured in a different way from the strategy team at the same organisation. This complexity is heightened by the difference between how it is seen by the organisation vs the individual. The answer is to step back and take a more strategic and sustained view of what productivity looks like. One that does not just focus on ROI, revenue, and outputs, but also encompasses engagement, outcomes, and well-being. This more sustained view is not easy to explore but is necessary for the future. #Productivity #Longevity #Technology #WorkplaceFlexibility #FutureofWork
