Last week we toasted to our friends at Brixton Finishing School who invented a brilliant new way to get the names and CVs of their talented candidates into our hands – beer! Turning cans into canvases, they invited individuals to show off their creative skills to get noticed by people in the industry that might be looking for their next hire or be able to make a useful connection for those trying to catch a career break. We are proud to be featured in LBB (Little Black Book) <link in comments> as a founding subscriber of this great initiative and look forward to enjoying more beers to start new careers in 2025! Thanks also to Common People for the tip off about this and so many other brilliant initiatives to build a diverse and vibrant talent pool in the creative and comms industries. #christmas #socialmobility #DEI #creativetalent

Episode eight is LIVE. 🎙️ How do we lead today? In British Politics. Another timely conversation this week, as Sarah Parsonage is joined by Jack Doyle CBE, former associate editor at the Daily Mail and Director of Communications to Boris Johnson at 10 Downing Street and Luke Sullivan, Former Director of Communications to Kier Starmer. With the uncertainty of a new Labour government playing out just this week and another era of Donald Trump, what does it mean to lead politically today? Following a combined thirty years in British media and politics, Jack and Luke explore how we navigate the reality of misinformation, whether playing politics has surpassed the responsibility of governing, boring Prime Ministers, and much more. Our series continues to join the dots of leadership in partnership with Headland. #politics #leadership #communication #headland #onequestion

It's not often I get to see my own name in print so I was pretty chuffed about this zine for the #BMEPRPros #MakeCommsGreatAgain conference last week where I shared some thoughts about diversity in comms, and the need to shift away from short-term acknowledgments that only emerge during heritage months. Big thanks to Elizabeth Bananuka for making it possible and inviting me to be part of a panel for the event, expertly facilitated by Armand David and with Lewis Iwu and Matthew Otubu as fellow panellists providing their own unique takes on the gnarly topic of how brands can navigate today's political landscape. Other callouts from the day: 📣Ndubuisi Uchea and Hayel Wartemberg from Word from the Curb talking about engaging Gen Z and minority consumers through entertainment. 👏 Joseph Harker from The Guardian sharing the story of how the Cotton Capital Project came about and their commitment to the restorative justice programme. I’m also proud that Headland supported the event as a sponsor. It’s rare to attend an event with such a genuinely diverse line-up and audience. I’m glad we could play a small part in making it happen.
