Will the third wave of AI fully break into the world of work in 2025? 👇 As we prepare for the new year, big changes are on the horizon, especially in the world of AI. Our CEO, Dirk Hahn, recently shared his thoughts with Bloomberg about what’s coming next. Dirk points out that while AI-specific jobs aren't booming just yet due to costs and old systems, we can expect to see more roles emerge as these challenges are tackled. “Artificial Intelligence holds the potential to fundamentally reshape the world of work by increasing efficiency. Most organisations, however, are still in the very early stages of exploration, implementation, and adoption. “This is due to several reasons, including cost, insufficient data, legacy infrastructures and the rapid pace of innovation, which is limiting our ability to upskill effectively and creating skills gaps. “We’re yet to see significant demand for AI-specific jobs. Instead, AI is being integrated into existing roles, highlighting the growing need for organisations to invest in training and development. “However, as AI requirements become more comprehensive, new roles are likely to appear in much higher numbers.” For both professionals and organisations, it's all about staying agile, flexible, and always ready for what's next. We are living in The Great Stagnation. October jobs numbers were an uninspiring gain of 14,500 jobs. The economy and the labor market is stuck. Our skills gap is stuck. Investment in employees is stuck and many feel their careers are stuck. I discussed this today on Bloomberg and in our 2025 Salary Guide. Fow now, we are likely to remain here while the world awaits the truth vs. exaggerations surrounding Trump campaign promises. But I do think the path forward is an exciting one!! A tight US border presents a window of opportunity for Canada to address our productivity issues by becoming a welcome recipient of Tech Talent. Further to this, it will be more difficult for our homegrown Canadian talent to head South in search of salaries which are often 50% higher than in Canada. Our big hurdle sits with the Federal Government. As our southern neighbor lowers corporate taxes, will we stay on track to raise ours? What good is an increase in talent without a response in local and international investment. The opportunity to address our productivity issues has been voted right into our lap.
