Exciting progress on the Thames Estuary Asset Management trial! Watch Balfour Beatty plc and Haydale teams apply CeramycGuard at Canvey Island, testing its ability to renew and protect concrete flood defences. This innovative coating increases durability by reducing porosity and guarding against chemical, microbial, and salt damage. #ConcreteProtection #Infrastructure #Innovation

Further to our announcement of Thames Estuary Asset Management – Team 2100’s trial of our concrete protective product, CeramycGuard, watch the video below to see the Balfour Beatty / Haydale’s staff at work, coating surfaces at its site on Canvey Island. The trial aims to investigate and prove CeramycGuard’s real world performance renewing and preserving, thus increasing the life, of concrete wall structures on their flood defences; which are under constant threat in a harsh environment. Concrete is the most widely used material in the world and, while resistant to fire and water, it is porous and open to corrosion. When treated with a CeramycGuard coating, it will have increased density, eliminated porosity and dramatically improved protection from chemical, microbial and salt attack – extending its life. It is a surface coating that penetrates the surface, providing chemical and microbiological protection, which has been designed so that it fills the pores and microcracks, coats the surface, and binds all the concrete elements together under a single protective ceramic layer. CeramycGuard is exclusively distributed by Haydale in the UK. Keith Broadbent Thomas Greaves John-Mark Seymour AZoNetwork Balfour Beatty plc #innovation #graphene #concrete

Graphene-based underfloor heating innovation offers potential relief amid planned Government winter fuel policy. In light of the recent Government announcement regarding the planned changes to the winter fuel policy, which will see a reduction in support for pensioners, Haydale is working with strategic partner Staircraft, which is owned by Travis Perkins plc, to develop a solution to help mitigate rising energy costs. Our newly developed graphene-based underfloor heating system, has just completed initial successful trials, offering a revolutionary way for households to significantly reduce their heating bills. With energy prices on the rise and Government support being scaled back, our innovative heating technology promises to ease the burden on household finances. Graphene’s exceptional heat conductivity allows for a faster, more efficient distribution of warmth, using considerably less energy than traditional heating systems., Independent trials have demonstrated that our low voltage underfloor heating system can reduce energy consumption, leading to major cost savings— of up to 70% vs traditional underfloor heat systems using main power and copper wires - exactly what’s needed as heating bills increase. "Our mission has always been to provide practical, affordable solutions to everyday problems, and the timing of this innovation couldn't be more important," said Keith Broadbent, CEO of Haydale. "At a time when many pensioners and vulnerable households are facing higher costs with less support, we believe our graphene heating technology can provide real relief." “Dr Luke Whale, Technical Director at Staircraft Group said “Our initial trials on graphene underfloor heating panels bonded to our pre-cut chipboard flooring panels are demonstrating extremely efficient room heating can be achieved at much lower running costs than traditional underfloor heating methods. We will now be discussing its potential with house builders, in the hope that site trials can be undertaken as a next step.” This cutting-edge system not only lowers heating expenses but also promotes sustainability by reducing energy consumption, making it an eco-friendly option for households concerned about their carbon footprint. Haydale is committed to bringing this affordable and efficient technology to the market, helping consumers—especially pensioners—stay warm without breaking the bank. Flood Defence Specialists Initiate Coating Trial Design Managers at Thames Estuary Asset Management 2100 (TEAM2100), who manage the tidal flood defences of the Thames Estuary for the Environment Agency, have agreed to initiate a trial to improving the life of wall structures. Haydale, UK based global Advanced Material specialists, had the pleasure of attending TEAM2100’s site located at Canvey Island for final scoping preparations ahead of a live trial to apply Haydale’s environmentally friendly CeramycGuard concrete asset protection product. The trial will investigate how the CeramycGuard surface coating that uses Haydale’s proprietary Silicon Carbide Microfibres, can renew and preserve concrete surfaces. Haydale Team Thomas Greaves and Simon Green were hosted by representatives Esther Ilelaboye from EnvironmentAgency, Robert Kleinjan, Sunny Chan and Elohor Hurley-Simister from Jacobs and Stefan Attfield and Charles Stotesbury MAPM from Balfour Beatty plc. A special mention to John Abraham of the Environment Agency who’s continued support and forward-looking attitude towards Innovation brought the team together. The Environment Agency, as an operator and a regulator, has a leading role in helping the country get to net zero by 2050. By embarking on and utilising innovations in advanced materials, such as CeramycGuard, will help the drive towards this important objective.
