We were delighted to bring together senior friends of the firm for a fireside chat between Tarun Bajaj, former Revenue and Economic Affairs Secretary of the Government of India, and Sanjiv Mehta, former Chairman and CEO of Hindustan Unilever, in Mumbai recently. Sanjiv and Tarun discussed India’s route to becoming the world’s third largest economy, the roles that the government and business have to play in realising that objective, and their forecasts for India’s growth in 2025.

We also work with over three quarters of the top 20 private equity firms in the world by assets under management, and many of the most respected sovereign wealth and pension funds. Beyond our commercial activities, we are proud to provide pro bono strategic support to a number of philanthropic and cultural organisations.

We were delighted to sponsor a dinner last week in support of Tennis First, a UK-based charity expanding access to tennis and supporting young players to reach their potential, in the Champions’ Room at Wimbledon Centre Court. Over the past six years, Tennis First has helped over 200 British juniors compete internationally and further their careers, including Emma Raducanu, Jack Draper and Henry Searle. It was a privilege to support the event - and to hear from Stefan Edberg and Pat Cash on their journeys to becoming Wimbledon champions.

Our warmest congratulations to William Hague, chair of our International Advisory Board, on his appointment as Chancellor of the University of Oxford.
Lord Hague of Richmond will serve as the next Chancellor of Oxford University having won a majority of support in the final round of voting for the post. Lord Hague becomes the 160th recorded Chancellor in the University’s history, a role that dates back at least 800 years. ‘Thank you to my fellow Oxonians for placing such confidence in me. I regard being elected as the Chancellor of our university as the greatest honour of my life. I pay tribute to the other candidates, in particular for their commitment to the future of Oxford. What happens at Oxford in the next decade is critical to the success of the UK. 'I look forward to working closely with the Vice-Chancellor and her team, along with students and alumni, to build on their excellent work. My heart and soul are in Oxford and I will dedicate myself in the coming years to serving the University I love.’ More information ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/eH5a3h2x

We were proud to support our colleague Alexandra Schwartz, who is a member of the NSPCC Rebuilding Childhoods Board, in hosting this special fundraising event at our London townhouse last night.
Many thanks to Alexandra Schwartz and our friends at Hakluyt & Company for hosting a fundraiser in aid of the NSPCC's Letting the Future In (LTFI) service last night. LTFI was launched by the NSPCC to support children recovering from sexual abuse to rebuild their lives through safe, therapeutic spaces such as 'The Lighthouse' in Camden. It was a great evening and we're very grateful to all who came to support this work.

Our teams in both London and Mumbai brought together inspiring women from across our network for two events last week. In London, we hosted a great evening of conversation including a short talk from Helen Fry on her latest book, Women in Intelligence: The Hidden History of Two World Wars. In Mumbai, we launched the India chapter of the Hakluyt Women’s Salon – a concept we began in Singapore, which aims to bring together senior women to share their experiences and build a community based on mentorship and support.

We are delighted to be partnering with the Clontarf Foundation, an important organisation that works to improve the education and employment prospects of young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men in Australia. Andrew Tiernan and Pete McConnell, two colleagues in our Australia team, recently had the chance to spend some time in Australia’s Northern Territory, where they visited Clontarf Academies and fished for dinner, camped out, hiked and saw some millennia-old rock art with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander boys from the academies. Find out more about the Foundation and its work here: clontarf.org.au.
