Season's Greetings! This year's Christmas card, The Wall Christmas Tree, commemorates the 35th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. The graphics take inspiration from the iconic album cover of The Wall by Pink Floyd. And from our experience working on existing and heritage, we've learned that sometimes it's about removing, rather than adding.

Designing for the rental market is all about balancing cost with quality. For our recent upgrade of two flats in the prestigious Coleherne Court in Kensington, we curated a thoughtful mix of finishes. The results? A project delivered on budget, that achieved a record-breaking rent within the block. In our project for the Society of Genealogists, we reused the existing light fitting, the existing raised access deck floor and the services we inherited from the previous fit-out. Those were adapted to suit the new layout and use. This resulted in less landfill waste, less transport to waste and associated emissions, and less embodied energy (already on site). Our project for the Society of Genealogists has been shortlisted in the Fit-out (Under £2m) category, as a project focused on the rework and refresh of interior spaces, employing low-carbon and circular economy principles. On June 16 Balázs from our office, joined over 12,000 cyclists in the London to Brighton Bike Ride 2024, organized by the British Heart Foundation. This 54-mile journey from the busy streets of London to the scenic coast of Brighton aims to raise awareness and funds for heart health research. He took on the challenge of conquering the final climb of Ditchling Beacon this year. The Colonnades is a residential development designed by Nicholas Grimshaw and Terry Farrell in the early 1970s, located in the Bayswater Conservation Area. Guarnieri Architects were asked to develop a concept proposal for upgrading the communal areas and the building envelope. The entrance, lobby, and access corridors to the flats have been reinvented to enhance the living experience and improve the daily life of Colonnades residents. A new, more open and transparent entrance sets a new relationship between indoor and outdoor. In the entrance lobby, the elevator shafts have been reclad with ceramic tiles, transforming them into an interior feature. Guarnieri Architects - Form follows culture.
