In 2024, our projects have delivered social value by supporting local communities, economies and environments. Our staff, suppliers and government partners have volunteered with local charities in Manchester and Croydon, where we have been developing new hubs. This work delivers value beyond just creating civil service workspaces. We've also prevented furniture from going to landfill during our refurbishments. By sharing items with local organisations and other government departments, or storing them for future projects, we've reduced carbon emissions and supported our net zero targets. #TransformingCivilService #SocialValue

We are committed to contributing to net zero in every aspect of our organisation, and this year we have seen great achievements in this area. In March we published our Biodiversity and Nature Recovery Annex as part of our Government Workplace Design Guide https://lnkd.in/eGSmWw3. The annex details how we will maintain, protect and improve the natural environment across our estate. In September, we achieved a key milestone in our approach to environmental preservation and enhancement when, following an external audit, our Environmental Management System (EMS) was accredited to the international standard for EMS ISO14001. The standard requires an organisation to demonstrate it understands its environmental impacts, its stakeholders’ needs and takes an organisation-wide approach to managing environmental performance. We have continued to deliver net zero interventions across our portfolio through our Net Zero Programme, which has resulted in carbon savings of over 1,200 tCO2e across the government estate, equivalent to that needed to power 500 homes for a year. Next year we will continue to deliver on our commitment to contribute to the Government’s target of 50% reduction in carbon emissions by 2027. #NetZero #TransformingCivilService

Looking back at some of our achievements this year, 2024 began with a major milestone as we closed the doors at 1 Victoria Street in London - a huge step forward in our progress towards consolidating the government office estate and reducing the number of buildings in central London. The closure of this circa 30,000 square metre building is expected to generate substantial savings of approximately £30m in annual running costs and a circa £300m 20-year Net Present Value (NPV). Reducing the Civil Service's London footprint is a key part of our vision for a transformed, shared, sustainable and value for money government office estate supporting civil servants to work productively in every nation and region of the UK. Our Whitehall Campus programme will consolidate the Central London estate into a smaller, inclusive and interoperable campus; whilst our Government Hubs Programme plays an important role in enabling the relocation of 22,000 government roles outside of central London to support Places for Growth. #TransformingCivilService

Continuing our spotlight on some of our 2024 highlights, we're taking a look at our Workplace Services Transformation Programme (WSTP). In April this year we completed our WSTP, which revolutionised how we deliver facilities management and security services across the government estate. Through the programme we appointed JLL as our strategic performance partner for workplace services and implemented a new regional supply chain model with greater focus on customer experience and service resilience. We also introduced the GPA Helpdesk, bringing building-related requests into one central place and creating a one-stop shop for over 150,000 people in our offices across the UK. The Programme is expected to deliver £40 million in savings over the next five years and In November our innovative new approach was recognised at the PFM Awards in the ‘Partners in Corporate – Public Sector’ category. #TransformingCivilService

As 2024 comes to a close we're reflecting on some of our achievements this year, in our sixth year of operation, creating great places to work for civil servants. Our people are key enablers in delivery. At our staff conferences our people came together to discuss our evolution, drive innovation and build community within our organisation. We also introduced the GPA Awards to our conferences, a new way to celebrate the fantastic contributions of individuals and teams. We have also seen the achievements and expertise of our people recognised by the wider industry, including: 🌟Our Project Director for the build and fit-out of Quay House, Peterborough, Sarah Mackintosh-Smith won in the Leadership category at the Government Property Awards. 🌟Our Property Services Director, formerly Workplace Services Director, Dominic Brankin was recognised as one of this year's Top 50 Workplace Leaders by The Workplace Event. 🌟Our Senior Audio Visual Technical Architect, Edward W. was recognised in this year’s Inavate EMEA 40 under 40 list. These achievements reflect just some of the exceptional talent and dedication of our people, who continue to transform the future of government workplaces across the UK. #TransformingCivilService #WeAreGPA
