We’ve been fortunate to share 2024 with such an incredible group of colleagues. If you're out and about over the next few weeks collecting contactless donations, take a look at our quick top ten tips.... 1. Create a campaign for the event - Think about the event and the audience and use appropriate wording and images. Make it festive and fun where you can! 2. Get fully charged! Make sure your devices are fully charged and ready to go. 3. Check the WiFi connection at the venue/event beforehand. Good WiFi is always best but you can also use SIM cards (CollecTin More) personal hotspots, or go offline entirely (Stripe wisepad 3 and Stripe S700 only) 4. Select the campaign you want to display on the device beforehand. You can change these easily in a couple of seconds, but it’s best to be prepared. 5. Enable Gift Aid and Marketing Opt ins so you can get the most from your donations and stay in touch with donors post the event. 6. Consider the use of ‘Give & Go’ (Stripe) or ‘Quick mode’ when you encounter busy periods 7. Boost your event with Tap to Pay and take donations on Android phones without the need for a card reader. 8. Make use of QR codes too if you’re handing out flyers or promoting your charity on any printed materials. 9. Get your staff and volunteers on board. Give A Little is super easy to use, but show them how it all works before they use it and provide volunteer log-ins so you can track individual success. 10. Have fun! Take the opportunity to chat with people and spread the word of your charity, and lastly keep moving if you’re outside and it’s cold! We love working with St Ann's Hospice - as well as collecting contactless donations with getcollectin portable donation boxes, the Cheadle based hospice are making use of the QR code campaign feature with Give A Little in a unique and fun way too! A cardboard cutout of Stockport County FC player Tanto Olaofe and a QR code which links directly to a donation page for St Ann’s. Brilliant! Some positive news to share on a dreary and wet Monday.... SumUp has reduced the transaction fee for App donations for all Give A Little account holders from the 1st December 2024 👏🏻 The new transaction fee is now 1.49%, reduced from 1.69%, and will automatically be applied to App donations processed by SumUp through Give A Little. Following on from our earlier post, if you're interested in creating your own DIY point of donation using a SumUp card reader alongside an Android device running the Give A Little software, take inspiration from Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People who did just that. (Link to case study in comments) Gary Farnfield Community Fundraising Manager at Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People; “Give A Little’s DIY option appealed to us because we didn’t want to spend a lot on standalone systems when we didn’t know how successful it would be. We already had some Android tablets and the SumUp card readers and our IT team bought some cool, robust cases, which have a velcro strap on the back so we easily can hold the tablet and the SumUp machine or have it nearby. We have signs at our events like car shows that say ‘you can make a contactless donation here’ - We can easily hold the tablet with the velcro strap and donors simply tap and it’s done!
