We had one aim: “fill Leeds’ biggest sports bar for an international female sporting event” When the chaps played in the World cup in winter, pubs across the country were fully booked and jam packed with supporters. We wanted to replicate that for our girls.... Leeds, you SMASHED IT. Massive thank you to everyone for coming. This wasn’t a G&T (girls and tech!) “event” it was a “people of Leeds supporting the Lionesses event”. The G.Digital | G&T (girls and tech!) team have worked tirelessly since Saturday to fill the venue and it was actually so emotional to see the crowds turning up... not bad considering we opened the doors at 8:30am!! We’ve featured on CH4, BBC and tabloids around the country, so keep your eyes peeled 👀👀 GIRL POWER!!! Change is on its way 🫶 After taking my nephew swimming, him and his pal ran to the TV saying “we want to watch the football..” and it was only after a while that I realised they had been watching the women’s football..😢 It really hit home how far the representation of women and women’s sport has come. I actually remember watching the Soccer AM episode where they mocked women’s football by sharing a screen of the england women’s football team and a man painting a wall around it… We still have a long way to go but I absolutely love that these lil boys are being brought up to challenge gender stereotypes ❤️.
