🙋♂️ Hands up if you've seen one of these before? Do you know what it is? Yes, folks - this is the inside of a magnetic filter for a boiler - an ADEY MagnaClean Professional2 magnetic filter, to be precise! We installed this filter as part of a new Ideal Heating installation. We then remove and clean the magnet during the subsequent annual services to ensure that it keeps working at optimum performance. You can see that this one is clearly doing its job protecting our new boiler! The magnet draws the black sludge (magnetite) from the water and saves the boiler from impending doom! How about this for a #ThrowbackThursday? Yes, if you're wondering - and we know you are - those are director Sean's legs. We needed to install a pipe for a new boiler behind a bathroom wall, however the bathroom wall was covered with very beautiful, very expensive tiles. So, what's an engineer to do? Well, there was really only one thing to do. Sean summoned his hidden contortionist talents, so the client is now enjoying their new, efficient boiler, with all their beautiful bathroom tiles still intact. 💙 #BeforeAndAfter This was a wee job from a month or so back, replacing old standard radiator valves for new thermostatic valves. Thermostatic radiator valves, or TRVs, are a great investment - they give you greater control over your heating, meaning you can use your heating more efficiently, reducing your energy use. This can help to reduce your energy bills and your carbon footprint. 🍃👣 If you've heard of TRVs, or even if you have them in your own property, you might still be wondering what *exactly* they do? Well, in short, they allow you to manage the temperature in each room individually, rather than having to heat your whole property up to your chosen temperature. They don't control the boiler in any way, but instead sense the air temperature around them and control the flow of water through the radiator that they're fitted to accordingly. So, if the room is warmer than the TRV setting, the valve will close a little, reducing how much hot water can flow into the radiator. If the room is colder, the valve will open, increasing the hot water flow. Simple, but efficient! #PlumbingAndHeating #PropertyManagement #EnergyEfficiency
