What a way to wrap up a great year of Kelly Love building inspiring and meaningful corporate connections to strengthen the Galloways community of support! We are proud to launch the first edition of our new LinkedIn newsletter, aptly named 1867: Corporate Connections. This edition expresses our thanks and celebrates the support we’ve received from our corporate club members and other corporate supporters throughout 2024. Check out just a few of the many highlights, as well as mentions of some amazing people and companies. Please support us by subscribing. Our aim is not only to create a network of supportive connections for both Galloways and our corporate members, but also to help organisations and employees improve their knowledge and understanding of sight loss conditions, as well as how you can provide customers with sight loss a more inclusive experience. Thanks so much to Akith and the team at Evolve Document Solutions! The delighted faces of so many children are the cherry on top of doing Santa's Grotto each year, and the selection boxes really do make it so special!
Akith popped into Galloways this week to donate gifts to their Christmas collection. We were only too proud to support this valued Evolve client and a special worthy cause. Merry Christmas!

Galloways is so excited to be welcoming Jason Jones of SocialLite to Galloways HQ on Thursday this week, along with Married at First Sight's Ross McCarthy! Ross is a former footballer who played for Everton Deaf Football Club and was scouted for Team GB trials at the age of 17. He played all over the globe until 2 years ago and is now a painter and decorator. He’s also well-known for his appearance on Married at First Sight UK as the show’s first deaf participant. We will share updates of the event tomorrow, and are so grateful to Ross, Jason and SocialLite for taking time out of their busy schedules to come and visit our Preston Christmas Party!

Calling all business owners, office workers, local shops, restaurants, cafes and garden centres.... Could you house one of our Galloways collection tubs next to your till or in a staff room to help us raise more money and support even more local people living with sight loss? Whatever your business or workplace type, you can support us in such a simple way! Order a collection tub on our website at https://lnkd.in/gNFs2MXU and we will deliver it free of charge and once it is full, let us know and we will collect it. Showdown has been a really popular addition to our activity calendar recently! Everyone is welcome to come and have a go at this fast-paced sport, whether you are living with sight loss or not, come along and give it a try! Andrew Coleman will be happy to answer any questions about the game, and our team would love to welcome you to Galloways HQ!
Still in my first month at Optelec-Enhanced Vision UK and I already have a stand out highlight. A game called ‘Showdown’ that David Bromilow convincingly beat me 11-8! If you are in the Preston area and know partially sighted friends want to try, get in touch with the Galloways charity who have Showdown every other Wednesday & Friday.

A massive shout out to Tesco in Chorley! A small selection box from Santa goes a long way to fulfilling a child’s Christmas fantasy. 🎄🎅❤️
A massive thanks to Tesco in Chorley for their super donation of selection boxes to be used for the Galloways Christmas Grotto at St George’s Shopping Centre in Preston …..commencing 30th November! Sharon at Tesco kindly arranged this donation through our fabulous Michelle Hawley, to make the magical grotto experience even more special for the kids we meet. We can’t wait to donate our elf ears and glittery cheeks to raise some money and the festive spirit of people in Preston! (Excuse the scruffy, grungy look - photo was not pre-empted and I have been busy on Charity Ball duty, heavy lifting etc for the day 😂)

It’s #TrusteesWeek! The time of year when we celebrate the amazing contribution made by our board of trustees for Galloways and recognise the difference they make. Our trustees give their time on a voluntary basis to help lead and govern our charity, and work together along with the staff to make effective decisions to drive us forwards in the best interests of people living with sight loss. You can meet our board and read about their personal and professional experiences at https://lnkd.in/eZJJ9Dh3 and scroll down to the trustee section. Trustees’ Week is a time for us to come together to celebrate the achievements of nearly one million trustees across the UK. Thank you to all of our trustees for the time, commitment, and effort they bring to help Galloways thrive! #trusteesweek2024 NCVO Beatrice Booth Joanna Solanki Iain Pearson Hasanga Parkinson
