🚨 SANCTIONED: 20 shadow fleet ships carrying illicit Russian oil. These include Ocean Faye, Andaman Skies and Mianzimu, which have each carried more than four million barrels of Russian oil in 2024. These new measures will further drain Putin’s war chest, by clamping down on the oil revenues he so desperately needs to fuel his illegal war and put those who enable Russia’s oil exports on notice. Guyana is the fastest-growing economy in the world. Foreign Secretary David Lammy, the son of Guyanese parents, visited the country this week to strengthen economic ties and discuss shared priorities. The Foreign Secretary saw the construction of a maternal and children’s hospital supported by UK Export Finance and with steel coming from Yorkshire. He met with local business leaders to discuss further opportunities for economic co-operation between the UK and Guyana. The Foreign Secretary also visited Rockstone village, where he discussed the UK’s support for sustainable forest management and solutions to challenges faced by coastal and marine communities. We cannot protect the planet without protecting the Amazon. On the visit, the Foreign Secretary announced a new Amazon Regional Fund to support sustainable growth in the region, and a Blue Social Challenge Fund, designed to help countries like Guyana safeguard their marine environments and boost prosperity. The UK has become the twelfth member of the CPTPP, a trade group of countries in Asia, the Americas, and now Europe. Joining the CPTPP could boost the UK economy by £2 billion every year compared to projected levels of GDP in 2040. It could bring benefits to the UK services sector, automotive industry and makers of green goods. From today, British businesses can take advantage of brilliant opportunities across this group.
