𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭: 𝐒𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐨𝐢𝐫 🌊 We’re proud to have played a pivotal role in the construction of the 𝐒𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐨𝐢𝐫, a key project for Northumbrian Water to improve water resilience for South Tyneside and Wearside. This 43ML semi-precast reservoir, located near Washington, Tyne and Wear, will benefit over 50,000 properties directly and provide resilience for a further 200,000 properties across the region. At FLI Precast Solutions, our team was engaged early in the project by Mott MacDonald Bentley (MMB) to deliver a semi-precast concrete solution designed for durability, efficiency, and quality. Our Contribution ✅ 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐖𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐥𝐬: Manufactured off-site to improve quality control and reduce on-site disruption. ✅ 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧: Collaborative design integration to ensure the structural integrity of this large-scale reservoir. ✅ 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞 & 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐛𝐨𝐧 𝐄𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲: Off-site manufacturing and installation reduced project timelines while optimising environmental benefits. By partnering early with the project team, we delivered solutions that streamlined the construction process and aligned with the project's goals for quality and sustainability. Guildford STW: The challenges of constructing a new sewage treatment plant on an historical landfill site. Thames Water is working in partnership with Guildford Borough Council to move the existing Guildford STW to a new location; making way for the new Weyside Urban Village, which is part of the Slyfield Area Regeneration Project, The 70,000m2 site for the new works had originally been used as sand and gravel quarries and subsequently for landfill from the 1960s to the 1980s, when the site was capped off with a granular layer and has laid dormant ever since. After a period of Early Contractor Involvement, Thames Water awarded a contract to BAM-Enpure Joint Venture in 2021 to design, build and commission this significant new works and once operational, to de-commission the existing works. The permanent works started in earnest in Summer 2023 and in August, rapid impact compaction was conducted over the site, with a combination of one or two passes. In total the ground was hit 360,000 times! Precast piles were driven for the major structures and pipelines - these were all 250mm square piles and varied in length from 16m to 20m. A total of 3,422 piles have been driven using three piling rigs. Of the 59 concrete structures, some are simple reinforced bases, however ‘the big 5 (the inlet works, the primary settlement tanks, the activated sludge plant, the final settlement tanks and the tertiary treatment plant) are significant and complex.
