A: "As a frequent traveler for both business and leisure, especially on short-haul flights, I am only too well aware of the frustration and inconvenience caused by badly disrupted flights. As a former Director of Worldwide Operations at British Airways, I am ideally placed to understand the shortcomings of airlines, airports, and ground handling agents when problems occur." Q: How can technology elevate passenger experience during disruptions? A: "Especially in terms of mass disruption when several airlines may be impacted at the same time at the same airport, it is practically and economically difficult for airlines and their partners to scale up the response needed. If much of this can be automated, it helps hugely. For the airlines, they often have little visibility of the exact costs incurred during disruption and can get into disputes with customers over what was offered and accepted."
