We’re proud to be making a big difference to people wanting to build a career in the Environmentally Conscious Construction industry. Thank you Ewan Metcalf for our brilliant partnership and helping us connect with with the right people in line with our Social Values 💚
🌿 Deep Retrofit Project Update: Glenaire Bungalow, Edgerton Conservation Area 🏡 We’re excited to share the progress from our monthly meeting on this deep retrofit of a 1970s bungalow in the prestigious Edgerton conservation area. Current Project Milestones: ✅Enhanced Safety Protocols: Conducted comprehensive toolbox talks with all trades and subcontractors to reinforce airtightness integrity strategies. ✅Structural Advancement: Installed new blockwork, LVL Steico purlins and beams, and membranes to support the roofline and initiate the airtightness layer. We're excited to be using timber structure instead of steel on this project as a much more sustainable structural material. ✅Thermal Efficiency: Completed first-floor boarding. ✅Airtight Envelope: Begun fixing Durelis Vapourblock airtight boards into the roofline as the airtight layer. The roof will be insulated from the exterior with new woodfibre insulation. ✅Plumbing Infrastructure: Finished first-fix plumbing for water and heating systems. ✅Waste Management: Prepared for waste pipe installation next week. ✅Energy-Efficient Flooring: Upgrade work in progress to the ground floor for enhanced insulation and airtightness. ✅Premium Glazing: Delivered 21-degree triple-glazed windows to the site. Window and door installation commences next week. ✅Preparing for Insulation: Prepared and cut back original outer leaf stonework for parge coat application. This parge coat is vital to ensure a smooth substrate for the external wall insulation, which must be installed without any pockets or gaps to prevent thermal bypass and make sure it performs as it should. ✅Sustainable Heating: Initiated preparations for Air Source Heat Pump first-fix installation next week. A trench has been prepared for the connection between the external unit and the internal hot water cylinder. 🤝We're also proud to support the next generation of construction professionals on this project! Forging Futures is doing amazing work developing Leeds' future architects, bricklayers, joiners and more. We're grateful to Jay, Louis, and Joe for their hard work and dedication to our eco-friendly project. A special thanks to Ewan Metcalf for facilitating this invaluable work experience to help close the green skills gap for future employability. Designed by HEM Architects Anna Roper Paul Testa this project aims to meet the highest standards of deep retrofit, ensuring the home is truly energy-efficient, comfortable, and affordable. Five Rise Contractors reposted this
Isolated. That's how many people experiencing homelessness feel at Christmas. Often without anyone to spend the day with, or anywhere to spend the day - a day on the streets feels like just another day. This feeling is even more acute for those who go from being surrounded by many people to finding themselves alone and isolated quite quickly. Our outreach team can help by integrating a person back into the community. While they may still struggle with feeling lonely at this time, we aim to ensure that individuals start to feel like they have a person in their corner again. That's why we're asking for cash donations as part of our Christmas Appeal 2024. So we can get more of our outreach team on the streets, to make Christmas a little less lonely for people this year. You can donate at https://lnkd.in/exAb2Uf2 Or you can donate £10 by texting SIMON to 70470.
