  • 🌍 In their 2024 manifesto, Labour stated that the climate crisis was the "greatest long-term global challenge that we face”. Surprisingly, regulating TikTok may be one of the ways to tackle it 🇬🇷 Greenly, a Paris-based carbon accounting consultancy, estimates that the social media app's annual carbon footprint is larger than Greece's, with the average user generating emissions equivalent to driving 123 miles in a car each year.   👉 As businesses increasingly integrate sustainability into their strategies, how do you weigh the environmental cost of digital platforms in your marketing decisions?  👉 Does TikTok’s carbon footprint influence your perspective on using it for professional outreach? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below! ⬇️ #TikTok #Greece #CarbonEmissions #ETLGLOBALUK

  • The Post Office inquiry has officially concluded after two years of hearings, exposing one of the UK’s worst-ever miscarriages of justice. Wrongful convictions, flawed technology and institutional failings—what lessons should businesses and public bodies take from this? 💡 We’d love to hear your thoughts: 👉 How can organisations ensure accountability and prevent similar scandals? 👉 Should corporate leaders face tougher personal consequences for systemic failings? • The UK’s dealmaking activity has soared in 2024! 💫 The UK continues to be Europe’s top destination for mergers and acquisitions, with deal activity accelerating in recent weeks. Here are the key takeaways: 🚀 £5.3bn in takeover offers announced in one week alone, highlighting the UK's M&A momentum 🚀 Notable deals include TI Fluid Systems (£1bn offer from ABC Technologies), Renewi (£701m bid from Macquarie) and Loungers (£351m purchase by Fortress Investment Group) 🚀 M&A activity involving UK companies has reached £306.3bn in 2024 so far, a 57% increase compared to the same period last year (Dealogic) 🚀 The UK outpaced the rest of Europe since the beginning of the year: Germany ($143.2bn), France ($142.3bn) and Italy ($91bn) 🚀 Key drivers include post-Budget confidence, stable environment and lower UK share valuations vs US peers Cathy Revis, Head of Tax and Transaction Support at Fiander Tovell, says: “We have seen deal values increase in 2024 across many different sectors and the slight easing of interest rates and greater availability of funding have been a factor. We expect a more normalised market in 2025 following the post-COVID bull market we have experienced until recently, with deal volumes increasing once again. There are already signs of this and the tax changes in April 2025 will most likely drive higher than normal volumes of completions in Q1.  We see that investors are becoming more sector selective with a greater focus on increasing value through operational efficiencies rather than financial engineering and it is likely that Healthcare, Software as a Service and Data driven businesses will fair particularly well in 2025. Despite some challenges, the UK remains a desirable place for investment and the financial instability currently experienced by some of our European neighbours may help drive continued inward investment from overseas next year.” What are your predictions for the UK’s M&A landscape in 2025? 🤔 #MergersAndAcquisitions #UKBusiness #PrivateEquity #BusinessGrowth

  • Will climate change be the end of your morning coffee? ☕️ Policymakers are being urged to act on the ‘climate chaos’ that is affecting the prices of arabica beans and food products. Here’s what you need to know: 🌎 Coffee prices are soaring due to a poor harvest in Brazil, the global market’s top supplier, consequently hitting the highest price level in 50 years 🌎 Climate change could drive global food price inflation by 0.9 to 3.2% over the next decade 🌎 Governments should invest in flood defences, weather-resistant crop varieties and research into pests and diseases to improve conditions for harvesting in the countries most affected by adverse weather As climate change continues to disrupt global supply chains, the rising costs of essential commodities is just one example of a broader trend 📈 How are you helping your clients safeguard their businesses against climate-related risks and the impact of inflation in the future?  #Inflation #ClimateChange #Environment
