  • It is with indescribable sadness that we share the below update.

View profile for Adam Matthews, graphic

Managing Director, Partnering with the top Pharma, Biotech, Med Device and Health Tech organizations' in the USA

It is with a profound and deep sorrow that I write this post, to confirm that my brilliant friend and business partner, Steve McBride, has passed away suddenly. He leaves behind his wife, his two little girls and an unborn child and it is totally impossible for me to find the words to describe the depth of this tragic loss. As I am sure all reading this will understand, we ask for privacy for our team, and most importantly for Steve’s family so that we can all grieve and process this heartbreak. Steve was a private guy, he had no ego, he didn't like a fuss, he has never courted industry recognition on LinkedIn or other platforms. He quietly went about his business being brilliant at what he did and letting his results do the talking. I'm of a similar mindset, and so posting publicly about this isn't something that sits easily with me. But as people start to hear this news, understandably they are reaching out to myself, our colleagues at Discover and to his friends and family. I therefore thought it was the right thing to do to provide an update. Steve, I hope you don’t mind brother.   No words I write here will be able to do Steve justice, but I'll try to share something of what he meant to me and what I will remember him for. Steve was a fantastic guy who lived life to the full. He was brilliant, he was funny, he was smart. He had the best stories to tell and delivered them with the driest of wit. He was generous and he was kind. He was such fun to be with. He was the greatest friend and trusted confidante. But above all, he was a loving husband and father who adored his wife and children. He was fiercely passionate about our work here at Discover. He was an incredible recruiter, recruitment leader, and businessman and was on a mission with us all to make Discover the most incredible Life Science recruitment company that he possibly could. Steve brought together a brilliant group of people here. He really cared about them and wanted the best for them. He nurtured them and was loyal to them, and they are loyal to him in return. His motivation, passion, knowledge and decency was, and will remain, a driving force in creating the winning culture that we have at Discover. Right now we all need time to process and grieve. However, one thing that is for certain is that our wonderful team are more motivated than ever to honor Steve’s legacy. We will work together to take the company from strength to strength to achieve his vision.   Steve inspired us in life and he will inspire us in death. We will always miss you Steve. Love you brother.
