  • The Sun Princess, launched in February 2024, is the first vessel in Princess Cruises' new Sphere class and the first in their fleet to be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG). This ship, the third to bear the Sun Princess name, measures 1,133 feet in length with a beam of 155 feet. It accommodates between 4,324 to 5,189 passengers across 2,162 cabins, with a crew of approximately 1,600. A standout feature of the Sun Princess is its multi-level glass dome, known as "The Dome," which serves as a relaxing solarium by day and transforms into a vibrant entertainment venue by night, hosting acrobatic performances and other events. The ship offers more than 29 bars and restaurants, including the unique "Spellbound by Magic Castle," a combination dinner-drinks-entertainment venue. Accommodations include over 1,500 balcony staterooms, more than any other Princess ship, and a variety of suites, such as the expansive Sky Suites featuring two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a separate living area, and an expansive balcony. The Sun Princess embarked on its maiden voyage on February 28, 2024, in the Mediterranean. In April 2024, actress Hannah Waddingham, known for her role in 'Ted Lasso,' was named the ship's godmother during a christening ceremony in Barcelona. She later starred in an advertisement for Princess Cruises, performing the theme from 'The Love Boat' aboard the ship. The Sun Princess represents a significant advancement in cruise ship design and sustainability, combining modern amenities with environmentally friendly technology.
