Minister Gordon Lyons officially launched the Tullycarnet Place Shaping plan. Following a process commissioned by the Northern Ireland Housing Executive, the plan sets out an exciting vision for the area, based on co-design, collaboration and engagement with local community groups to reinvigorate a vibrant and thriving Tullycarnet community.

In May 2016 the Department for Communities was established following the restructuring of Northern Ireland Departments. It is the largest of the nine NICS Departments and work with 15 Arm's Length Bodies and number of Advisory Groups. Around 8,800 people are employed by the Department, accounting for one third of NICS employees. It has an annual budget of almost £7 billion, including expenditure of £5.9 billion on social security and pension payments

Communities Minister Gordon Lyons has launched a consultation on a new Fuel Poverty Strategy for Northern Ireland and new energy efficiency scheme for low-income, vulnerable households. This sets out a long-term plan for ensuring everyone can live in a warm, healthy home.
