With an ever-evolving regulatory landscape, FT Adviser has reflected on the complexities facing advisers when offering private market investments to their clients. Their analysis reveals that nearly two-thirds of advisers avoid private market investments, with regulatory complexities being a major deterrent. Only 20% of advisers have clients invested in private markets, where such investments make up an average of 17% of these clients' portfolios. Although private equity is noted for strong long-term returns, just 15% of advisers plan to increase private market allocations, citing risk aversion and client suitability concerns. Advisers continue to face challenges in navigating opportunities within the private markets; overcoming these complexities will require strategic thinking and technology to support ease of access and broad adoption. Private markets assets are no longer just for institutional investors. With the introduction of Long-Term Asset Funds (LTAFs), investors can access illiquid assets such as infrastructure, private equity, and real estate without the liquidity challenges that usually accompany these investments. Tim Horne, Head of UK Defined Contribution at Schroders, explains for FT Advisor that financial advisors must adapt to the evolving landscape that is opening up to retail and high-net-worth investors and highlights the importance of private markets investment strategies, “As the UK market evolves, when we are talking to wealth managers and investors, they need to adapt to the new reality of private markets.” Read more from Tim in the FT Advisor’s article, and visit our website via the comments below to see how Delio’s white-label digital operating system works for different use cases https://lnkd.in/d7s_F5Ni

US-based private equity firms are facing increasing regulatory hurdles for cross-border investments in the UK and Europe, shaped by more complex frameworks. Brexit reforms and expanded foreign direct investment (FDI) rules are now scrutinising transactions across a broader range of sectors, including healthcare, tech, and energy. While these rules have created some challenges, the region offers strong market fundamentals and significant opportunities that are gaining interest for US capital deployment. According to The Drawdown’s article, firms are drawn to life sciences and industrial sectors of the UK and Europe. Looking ahead to 2025, using technology and the right expertise can increase the feasibility of cross-border investments so firms can unlock significant value from new markets.
