Cynnal Cymru has been a Living Wage Employer for 12 years! 🎉 Since 2012, our staff numbers have grown significantly, and we have gained an additional Living Hours Employer accreditation. Additionally, we now have a Fair Economy team focused on fair work policy and practice that includes working on the Living Wage Wales movement. Over the years, it has been a pleasure working as the Living Wage Foundation’s accreditation partner in Wales to help organisations in Wales become Living Wage and Living Hours Employers, and we look forward to continuing to build a fairer and more sustainable future for Wales. Want to find out more about Living Wage accreditations? https://livingwage.wales/ Mae Cynnal Cymru wedi bod yn Gyflogwr Cyflog Byw ers 12 mlynedd! 🎉 Ers 2012, mae'r nifer o staff wedi cynyddu’n sylweddol, ac rydym wedi ennill achrediad ychwanegol fel Cyflogwr Oriau Byw. Yn ogystal, mae gennym bellach dîm Economi Deg sy’n canolbwyntio ar bolisi ac arferion gwaith teg sy’n cynnwys gweithio ar y mudiad Cyflog Byw i Gymru. Dros y blynyddoedd, mae wedi bod yn bleser I gweithio fel partner achredu’r Living Wage Foundation yng Nghymru i helpu sefydliadau yng Nghymru i ddod yn Gyflogwyr Cyflog Byw ac Oriau Byw, ac edrychwn ymlaen at barhau i adeiladu dyfodol tecach a mwy cynaliadwy i Gymru. We've just finished our last event of Living Wage Week, bringing to an end a great week of events across Wales. The real Living Wage is the only UK wage rate based on the cost of living. It is voluntarily paid by over 15,000 UK businesses who believe their staff deserve a wage which meets everyday needs - like the weekly shop, or a surprise trip to the dentist. This week, we've been celebrating the Living Wage movement across Wales. We had our set-piece annual event in Cardiff in the brilliant Norwegian Church (a Living Wage employer) with a video message from the First Minister, and Cllr Huw Thomas, leader of Cardiff Council, and Cllr Andrew Morgan, leader of Rhondda Cynon Taf Council, talking about their commitment to the Living Wage and how they went through the process of getting their local authorities to become an accredited Living Wage Employer (only three of 22 local authorities in Wales have done this so far). We met in the Senedd with the Minister with responsibility for the Living Wage, Jack Sargeant MS, and our team and the First Minister visited Andrew Scott Ltd, to celebrate their commitment to the Living Wage. We held our second annual event in Grangetown, a great community event that is fast becoming a highlight of the week - to talk about how to spread the Living Wage on a hyper-local level too. And to cap the week off, we just held a roundtable in Swansea of a group of really passionate businesses, universities, and charities to talk about how we can spread the Living Wage across Mid and West Wales - hosted by Urban Foundry | B Corp™, another of our great Living Wage Employers. Our Cynnal Cymru - Sustain Wales Fair Economy team is a team of five people, with four working on the Living Wage, some of who are part time. We're a small team who run a nation-wide programme that includes events, running a bilingual communications and social media operation, business support, campaigning on the Living Wage, and more - which requires a lot of partnership working. Without these partners it couldn't happen - so thanks very much to Living Wage Foundation colleagues, Citizens Cymru, and all others who contributed to the week including businesses, charities, politicians, civil servants, and community activists. And of course thanks to Grace Robinson, Karen Misbah, and Alys Reid Bacon for making it all happen. The Living Wage movement in Wales is going from strength to strength, so get in touch with Living Wage Wales to accredit and be a part of something great.

Our team from Cynnal Cymru - Sustain Wales had the pleasure of attending the Wellbeing Economy Cymru Festival of Ideas on Monday hosted by 4theRegion & Wellbeing Economy Cymru (WE Cymru). As well as exhibiting upstairs on the day there was also a fantastic line-up of speakers and discussions for us to enjoy. Derek Walker Future Generations Commissioner - The Office of the Future Generations Commissioner for Wales highlighted that the number of people earning above the real #LivingWage in Wales is at its lowest in a decade, and 1 in 5 people have reported going hungry this past year. Showing what a difference paying a real Living Wage can make. A special thank you to Ali Arshad from Ffair Jobs CIC for highlighting during your talk about the important work you do on the Ffair Jobs Community Jobs Compact in Cardiff, the impact the real Living Wage has had for the communities in Butetown and Grangetown. #WECymru #WellbeingEconomy #WelshEconomy
