  • Embracing the festive spirit, colleagues rolled up their sleeves this month to support the Group's catering teams in delivering Christmas lunch service to schools across East Anglia. Leading from the top, our Managing Director, Matthew Self visited Ormiston Endeavour Academy in Ipswich to join forces with catering colleagues and ensure that students enjoyed a memorable Christmas lunch experience. When speaking about how this initiative highlights the company’s teamwork and gratitude, he commented, “Our catering teams do an incredible job every day to ensure students are well-fed and cared for. This was a chance for us to step into their shoes, express our appreciation, and experience firsthand the effort that goes into delivering such a vital service.” Read the full article by visiting our website - https://lnkd.in/euViTXFf

  • Last week we joined Cllr Steve Owen, Executive Member for Children’s Services at Central Bedfordshire Council and members of the project team on site to celebrate the progress of the new sports hall at Edward Peake CofE School in Biggleswade. The new sports hall will provide modern facilities with space for three badminton courts, a full basketball court, and cricket nets. An upper level will accommodate activities such as dance, aerobics, and yoga. Additionally, the new MUGA will feature a full-size football pitch with floodlighting, enhancing outdoor sporting opportunities for students. The proposal has developed from a feasibility we conducted back in 2023 to help develop the school to meet the new needs of the programme across Biggleswade. • We caught up with Joe N., Intermediate Building Services Engineer at Concertus, who recently won the CIBSE East Anglia Level 4 Young Engineer of the Year 2024 award. Currently in his fourth year of BEng (Hons) studies at London Southbank University, Joe discovered his passion for building services through his father, who works in the industry. He appreciates the importance of building services in ensuring safety, efficiency, and sustainability. Expressing pride in his recognition, Joe credited his success to the support from colleagues and mentors at Concertus, highlighting the value of community and collaboration. Joe's achievements suggest a promising future and we look forward to sharing more about his career in the future.

  • Exciting progress is underway at Tibshelf Community School, where significant developments are taking shape. The roof of the new building is now fully completed, and the installation of photovoltaic (PV) panels that will provide sustainable energy to the school is awaiting. Externally, the facia has been fitted to the walls, delivering both a polished appearance and protective functionality. Work on the first fix air conditioning and ventilation systems is progressing, ensuring the new space will be as comfortable as it is modern.   Once finished, the project will deliver a state-of-the-art, detached four-classroom block designed for students with Special Educational Needs (SEN). This development reflects the schools and Derbyshire County Council’s commitment to inclusivity, enabling SEN students to remain fully integrated within the mainstream school setting. The new facility will foster social inclusion, helping to prevent isolation and create opportunities for SEN pupils to learn and grow alongside their peers. Each classroom will offer a spacious, well-equipped environment tailored to support the needs of young learners, helping them to thrive academically and socially.   We are delivering these works alongside Stepnell. • Our team had a great time at the Women in Construction event this week! It was fantastic to see so many passionate individuals in one room, including learners who attended the event. The focus on ensuring their inclusion and engagement with the industry was impressive. A learner-led Q&A session offered valuable insights into how we should approach training and development opportunities. This event will help businesses identify and understand knowledge gaps for those looking to enter the industry and has provided visible role models for the next generation of females in construction. It was inspiring for the team to network with others within the industry who shared the same goals. Thank you for having us! Clare Yelland (nee Friel) Construction Anglia

  • Our Property Management team has been working tirelessly on site and hitting the books! We're thrilled to announce that every team member has successfully passed their IOSH Managing Safely course. The IOSH Managing Safely course is designed to give managers and supervisors the knowledge and tools they need to handle health and safety in their teams. It covers everything from assessing and controlling risks to understanding responsibilities and investigating incidents. This certification ensures that our team can create a safer working environment for everyone. A special well done to Amber and Matt for also earning their P901 Hot and Cold Water Systems Management certification. This course focuses on managing hot and cold water systems, including controlling Legionella bacteria, which is crucial for maintaining safe and healthy water systems in properties. These achievements highlight our commitment to professional development and safety. Congratulations to the team for their dedication and hard work!
